The Role of Nurse

As a nurse, you lead, plan, and organize specialized care, including pre- and postoperative care, around the patient. We work in teams where you will have close collaboration with assistant nurses and doctors. There are a total of 4 teams on the ward on weekdays and three on weekends, so you always have nurse colleagues to consult. The tasks include clinical assessments, ward rounds, medication management, sampling, and social planning for the patient. Here, you have the opportunity to gain broad competence in various surgical diagnoses.

Your Future Workplace

At our facility, we primarily care for patients with a surgical primary diagnosis who need to be investigated, examined, or operated on. Palliative patients in the terminal stage of life are also cared for in close collaboration with SSIH. The ward also has places for urology and children over 4 years old. We receive both emergency and planned patients. The inpatient care of the Surgical Clinic at Höglandssjukhuset in Eksjö consists of four wards focusing on upper abdomen, lower abdomen/palliative patients, emergency/children, and urology. There are 30 care beds here. The Surgical Care Unit in Eksjö is part of the Surgical Clinic in Region Jönköping County, which since 2017 has been a region-wide clinic with operations in three locations: Eksjö, Jönköping, and Värnamo. All three locations have emergency departments, and emergency surgical care is provided around the clock, including surgery and intensive care. Your Profile

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse and welcome both newly graduated candidates and those with longer experience. We value experience within the profession, and experience in emergency care or surgical care is particularly advantageous. As a person, you are engaged, stable, and keep your cool in emergency situations, and you have good collaboration skills. You have a solution-focused approach to work, work proactively, adapt easily to new situations, and have good communication skills and the ability to put yourself in others' perspectives. Furthermore, we value your willingness to contribute to the development of the operations. Great importance is placed on personal suitability.

• Working hours during the day are currently 6:45–16 and in the evening 13:30-21:30, plus a shift 8:30-16 to break from evening to day. We create 11-week schedules that you have the opportunity to influence through individual schedule planning. We have scheduled operational development with the possibility of observation.

Region Jönköping County offers a region-wide introduction and development program (RIU) for you who are a newly graduated nurse. The program consists of 17 full days spread over eight months, and it starts every year in February and September.
