Description

Eating disorder care is a priority area in the Region of Västra Götaland and is currently growing in several places. The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (BUP) Eating Disorder Clinic in Uddevalla is no exception; last year we expanded both our premises and staff. As these changes begin to take effect, we see both a need and room to further expand the team!

The Eating Disorder Clinic for children and young people is a specialized service within child and adolescent psychiatry at NU Hospital. Our main task is to treat children and teenagers with severe eating disorders such as Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa, as well as Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID).

We work in teams consisting of nurses, counselors, doctors, dietitians, physiotherapists, and unit managers. The work group is independent and proactive, with a burning commitment to the young people and their families, and great care for their colleagues. The work climate is open and communicative, with a balance of seriousness and humor.

Treatment at the clinic takes place individually and/or in groups, as well as through family therapy and meal support. We have also recently started a family day care service to better meet the needs of our patients and to reduce the need for inpatient care.

We provide consultations to other units of the BUP clinic and other healthcare providers. The work also involves collaborating with schools, social services, and other organizations regarding children with eating disorders.

We are now looking for an engaged psychotherapist or counselor to join our team!

Job Responsibilities

The Eating Disorder Clinic is located in spacious premises with plenty of room to meet families individually and together, depending on the patients' needs. We share premises with the adult psychiatry eating disorder clinic, which provides a valuable opportunity for exchange and collaboration.

You will work with assessment and treatment in families and with individuals, based on your competence and experience. Work in the family day care service may also become relevant, where meal support is combined with environmental therapeutic elements. Regardless of the intervention, the focus is on strengthening the family's ability to master the illness themselves while providing support when needed.

The work also involves collaborating with schools, social services, and other organizations regarding children with eating disorders.

There are several other psychotherapists within the operation, not least at the outpatient center BUP West, which is located in the same buildings at Uddevalla Hospital. There are therefore very good opportunities for collegial exchange and supervision.

Collaboration within the team occurs continuously in daily life and at treatment conferences once a week. There are good opportunities for further education in the area, and we work systematically with induction, mentoring, and joint competence development. Staff have regular external supervision. Since the clinic is in a development phase, you may participate in environmental scanning, knowledge gathering, collaboration with similar operations, and method development.

Qualifications

A degree in Social Work is required. It is meritorious if you are a licensed psychotherapist, a licensed healthcare counselor, or if you have basic psychotherapy training. Naturally, experience in eating disorder care or other psychiatry is also valued.

You must be able to work both in team collaboration and independently with families, children, and young people. We place great importance on personal suitability, good social competence, flexibility, and the ability to work in a team.
