Communicator

The Department of Biology Education (IBG) at Uppsala University coordinates and administers all basic education within the biological section. The department's overarching goal is to offer a wide range of courses and educational programs in biology, biotechnology, and bioinformatics at a high international level and with high pedagogical quality. The department has a broad operation and is located on three campuses: the Centre for Evolutionary Biology, the Biomedical Centre, and Campus Gotland. Our educational environment is highly international, with students and a network of teachers from most parts of the world. The department has approximately 30 employees and 1,300 students. The National Resource Centre for Biology Education (Bioresurs) is part of the Department of Biology Education (IBG) at Uppsala University. Bioresurs works nationally to provide support and inspiration for teachers teaching biology in preschool, school, and adult education. Bioresurs arranges further training, develops and makes teaching resources available, and communicates with the target group about current issues in biology and biology didactics through various channels, such as the magazine Bi-lagan, a digital newsletter, and via social media. The goal of the activity is to raise competence and increase interest in biology and biotechnology among teachers so that more students will encounter current and engaging biology education.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities include planning, administration, implementation, and evaluation of further training for biology teachers. You will work with web design and content production in Sitevision and be responsible for communication in the system Ungapped. The responsibilities also include updating and accessibility adaptation of existing teaching materials. Furthermore, you will work with practical testing of experiments in biology.

Qualifications

You must be a licensed biology teacher and have documented experience working in the systems Sitevision and Ungapped, as well as good proficiency in editing with the Adobe suite (InDesign, Photoshop). Previous experience in digital development work, including web production, is an advantage. Very good written and oral communication skills in Swedish are required.

Great importance will be attached to personal suitability for the position. It is important that you can work both independently and collaborate in a group. You are structured and goal- and result-oriented.

Desirable/meritorious in other respects

Meritorious is documented experience of development work in the school sector.

About the position

The position is fixed-term for 5 months. The scope is 50%. Start date 2026-08-17 or as agreed. Location: Uppsala.
