Trygga Familjehem i Sverige AB is now looking for families and single individuals who wish to help children and young people aged 0–20. We are seeking both foster homes and emergency foster homes (jourhem).

Being an emergency foster home or a foster home

Being a foster home is interesting, challenging, and above all rewarding! It is about opening the doors to your home, your family, and your daily life, offering safety, guidelines, rules, and above all, much joy and heart. It is about a desire to share your life.

This naturally involves a significant challenge and requires a clear ambition to succeed. This ambition must be shared by all family members, and a common understanding of what the assignment entails is of great importance. Naturally, everyone in the family is affected when a new individual moves in and becomes part of the family. NOTE: A single person can also be an emergency or foster home.

The most important thing is that you have a genuine interest in helping a child or young person to a better life. You must also be able to collaborate with all actors surrounding the placed child/young person, such as schools, social workers, foster care consultants, etc.

To qualify for a placement, you need a little extra of everything; space, time, and ability! Our requirements to begin a foster home investigation include, among others:

• You must not appear in the police's criminal and suspicion register, the Swedish Social Insurance Agency's register regarding long-term sick leave, the Swedish Enforcement Authority's register, or the social register over the last five years.
• There must be a spare bedroom available for the placed child, without any family member having to give up their own bedroom. Note that common areas do not count as bedrooms.
• Your residence must be permanent, meaning you do not sublet, live as a lodger, or similar. The residence must be fully furnished and homely.
• You must be in good health and fit for work.
• You must have a stable income and means of support.
• At least one of you must have time for meetings with social services and our foster care consultants.
• You must not have any major upcoming life changes, such as moving, long trips, new studies, pregnancy, or similar.
• You must master the Swedish language.

Trygga Familjehem supports, guides, and educates

As a foster home, you receive Trygga Familjehem's basic training for foster homes. The purpose is to make the placement as good as possible for the placed child and for the foster family. Our consultants are always close at hand for ongoing guidance and education for the family during the placement. Your foster care consultant visits you regularly, and you have close cooperation on everything concerning the placed child, e.g., implementation plans and contact with authorities. You have 24/7 telephone support for any questions. Trygga Familjehem's working and relational approach is to be accessible, provide support, help, ideas, and motivation!

Good financial compensation

Opening up your home for a child, young person, or young adult is not about money, but about helping someone who needs a safe and stable existence. However, you should still receive solid compensation for the work you do.

The compensation is paid in two parts: a cost allowance of approx. 6,500 SEK/month to cover food, clothes, travel, etc., and a fee for the work you perform.

The fee varies from 26,000 SEK/month and upwards, depending on the complexity of the placement.
