About Knuten
In Alvesta Municipality, Knuten serves students with a need for central support and education. Knuten’s combined operations include an emergency school, a central school social team, a resource unit, a central special education group, and from autumn 2026, the Resource School as an independent school unit.
The central school social team within Knuten works with students whose schooling requires coordinated efforts from multiple parties. The central school social team’s mission is to help students in difficult life situations regain their connection to school, strengthen their attendance, and experience a daily life characterized by security, participation, and coherence.
The emergency school within Knuten is a time-limited and legally regulated intervention used when a student temporarily needs to receive education outside their regular school unit to ensure safety and a conducive learning environment.
The central special education group within Knuten is a flexible and time-limited intervention. It is intended for students who, for a period, need education outside their regular class to ensure their right to education is met. This intervention can be used when a student needs a smaller setting with increased structure, predictability, and adult presence.
The resource unit within Knuten is responsible for teaching children and young people of primary school age who are placed at VoB Syd’s treatment and assessment homes by social services.
The Resource School at Knuten is an independent school unit within Alvesta Municipality. It offers a clearly structured learning environment for a total of 4–6 students who have extensive and lasting needs for a small, specialized, and relationally secure school environment.
Knuten employs a flexible working method to meet extensive support needs through a safe and simplified environment with high adult presence and few relationships to manage. Staff here work with specific competence and relational readiness. The ability to interpret underlying needs and meet students with calmness and stability is crucial for building trust and development in students facing complex life situations.
Knuten’s target group is primary school students. Currently, licensed teachers and social pedagogues work here daily, but there is also very close collaboration with school psychologists. In addition to these professions, there is close cooperation between the municipality’s primary schools, social services in Alvesta and across the country, as well as two residential care homes (HVB) in Alvesta.

Working as a social pedagogue at Knuten means you will be involved in all these operations and collaboration structures. We work from a low-affective approach with the relationship as the focus, strengthening self-esteem, fostering a positive view of school, increasing responsibility for one’s actions, and enhancing motivation for schoolwork. In our operations, we value the opportunity to meet each student at their level and adapt to their needs and conditions. This means your role as a social pedagogue may involve motivating, teaching, or providing conversational support.
Qualifications
The basic requirement is that you hold a university degree as a social pedagogue.
You should have a strong interest in working with children and young people. We are looking for someone who enjoys challenges and appreciates that no two days are alike. We also value good teamwork skills, sociability, and the ability to build good relationships with students and colleagues. You should be structured, clear, and consistent, with the ability to take initiative, showing great engagement and flexibility. Personal suitability is of great importance.
