The Urban Environment Administration has overall responsibility for the city's public spaces and collective accessibility. We work to create accessible, attractive, and vibrant urban environments and natural areas. The administration owns and manages the tram network in Gothenburg. Approximately 1,000 people work at the administration.

The Urban Environment Administration is part of the city-developing administrations in the City of Gothenburg. Together, we work to create conditions for functioning infrastructure, high-quality housing and premises, an inviting public environment, and strive for the city to be sustainable from all perspectives.

Job Responsibilities

Do you want to help shape a sustainable Gothenburg where the urban environment works for everyone? Here, you will play a key role in the development of future streets, squares, and parks.

As an experienced traffic designer, you support project managers in selecting the right solutions for the city's street spaces. You contribute your expertise in balancing different surface materials, traffic modes, and functions to create sustainable and well-functioning holistic solutions. With your knowledge of traffic technical detailed design, you ensure that projects maintain high quality, are safe, and accessible to everyone using the city's public environments.

In your role, you are also responsible for reviewing and quality-assuring design proposals at various stages of the project process, serving as a key support in both strategic and technical matters. The role involves close collaboration with project managers, specialists, and other colleagues to develop solutions that contribute to an attractive, safe, and sustainable urban environment.

The role offers a varied daily routine where you work on everything from major reconstruction projects to smaller and temporary urban development initiatives. You are involved from idea to finished solution, contributing to the development of the city's public spaces for today's and future Gothenburg residents.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have an engineering degree or equivalent experience, as well as several years of experience in traffic design in complex urban environments. You have high traffic technical competence and thrive in contributing to sustainable and well-functioning solutions in the city's public spaces.

• An engineering degree (civil, university, or college engineer) or other education and experience that the employer considers equivalent.
• Several years of experience in traffic design in complex urban environments.
• High traffic technical competence.

The following are meritorious:

• Experience in design or reviewing design documents.
• Understanding of the city's urban development processes.
• Knowledge of the city's technical handbook.

As a person, you are analytical, detail-oriented, and have the ability to weigh different interests to find sustainable holistic solutions. You enjoy collaborating with others, are driven in your work, and take responsibility for driving issues forward in a structured and professional manner.
