About the Role

Are you a proactive mechanic or a skilled "heavy fitter" with broad mechanical knowledge? We are now looking for an engaged maintenance mechanic to join our maintenance team at Carbomax in Västerås. Here, you will become part of a tight-knit and stable team that values a non-hierarchical collaboration, an open-door policy, and a good mood throughout the workday.

Our production environment is heavy, grounded, and sometimes demanding, with temperature fluctuations, dust, and dirt. This is a long-term workplace for you who thrive with physically challenging work in an environment where no two days are alike, and where short decision paths and quick changes are part of everyday life.

Responsibilities

Your Tasks

As a maintenance mechanic, you work closely with our production. The work is entirely driven by what is being produced at the moment, which requires high flexibility and the ability to reprioritize when urgent needs arise. We perform certain repairs in our workshop, which is equipped with a brand new CNC-controlled milling machine, as well as out in the facilities.

Your main areas of responsibility include:

• Preventive and corrective maintenance: Performing repairs, oil changes, and ongoing bearing replacements on sieves, elevators, belt conveyors, and other material handling equipment.
• Workshop work: Design and manufacturing of own segments, platforms, and belt covers in our mechanical workshop.
• Work environment and safety: Conducting ongoing self-inspections on, for example, compressed air systems, and strictly adhering to current safety regulations.
• Daily planning: Participation in daily kick-off meetings at 07:00, where we start from the set weekly plan but adapt to production needs.

Qualifications

Who are you?

We are looking for a stable team player with a mature approach and a solution-oriented mindset. You have a good ability to work independently and take initiative when the situation requires it. Since our production environment can sometimes be demanding, we place great emphasis on you having a positive attitude and supporting your colleagues. You have a genuine, broad interest in technology and appreciate a workplace with direct and open communication.

Formal Requirements:

• Mechanical knowledge: Experience in mechanical maintenance work. Your background can be from heavy industry, agricultural machinery, trucks, gates, passenger cars, or similar; the main thing is that you have worked broadly with different types of machines.
• Certificates: Valid certificate for Hot Work and a B-driving license.
• Language: Good knowledge of Swedish, both in speech and writing.
• Physical prerequisites: Good physical fitness and mobility. The work involves heavy lifting, a lot of walking up stairs, and working in tight and ergonomically challenging spaces. You are also aware that the environment is sometimes dusty and that some tasks require a face mask.

Merits:

• Welding competence or knowledge in turning and milling.
• Work permit for forklift, overhead crane, wheel loader, and lift certificate.
• Knowledge in electrical work (all electrical competence is seen as a bonus, and we also offer electrical training for mechanics on-site).
• English in speech and writing.

As the operations will eventually move towards shift work, it is important that you have a flexible attitude towards changing working hours.
