Welcome to the Prevention Unit!

We are a department tasked with driving and developing preventive and health-promoting work within the main mission of Health.

The team includes business developers, health developers, activity coordinators, relatives' consultants, volunteer coordinators, dietitians, relatives' support staff, IT guides, and maintenance services, all located at our major meeting places.

On July 1, 2025, a new Social Services Act came into effect, meaning that the Prevention Unit is now engaged in joint development work to better meet the needs identified among adults and the elderly. Together, we work to offer support through outreach activities, meeting places, and volunteer work, with interventions aimed at improving physical, mental, and social health.

RESPONSIBILITIES

In the role of Health Educator, you will work to motivate and support individuals in making sustainable behavior changes for increased health and quality of life.

You will work with health pedagogical methods such as coaching conversations, lectures, and group activities. The content is adapted to goals and local needs and may cover areas such as social activities, physical activity and joy of movement, eating habits, sleep, and recovery.

In the role of Health Educator, you will:

• Coordinate, plan, and be responsible for meeting places together with colleagues
• Create collaborations with civil society for more health-promoting activities in our urban areas
• Conduct individual health conversations and group discussions
• Lead and participate in health-promoting activities
• Supervise volunteers
• Market both existing and new activities

The work is carried out in close collaboration with health developers to implement evidence-based and knowledge-based interventions, as well as to promote a sustainable working life for the employees in the unit.

Working hours are primarily during the day, Monday to Friday, but evenings will occur for special activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for a Health Educator with appropriate education. You have a university degree with a health pedagogical or equivalent focus, or another post-secondary education combined with experience that the employer considers equivalent.

The following are meritorious:

• Experience in preventive and health-promoting work
• Education in motivational interviewing or equivalent conversational methods
• Good skills in planning, designing, and publishing information in relevant channels
• Knowledge of lifestyle habits
• Experience in leading groups
• Experience working within mental health, including support for the elderly and individuals within social psychiatry

You are motivated to contribute to the development of the unit, are flexible, have good teamwork skills, can express yourself well in speech and writing, and are computer literate. You have drive, can work independently, and have a genuine interest in the target group. You strengthen relationships by helping others. You develop, improve, seek solutions, and monitor the external environment on your own initiative. You are the link, provide service, and show loyalty both outwardly and inwardly.
