The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care (SiS) is a government agency responsible for individually tailored compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial problems and for adults with substance abuse issues. SiS also operates secure youth care facilities. We do this through youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse across the country. Working with us, your career becomes an exciting challenge. Regardless of where you work in our organization or what role you hold, you help create life-changing change.

SiS Youth Home Ljungaskog receives non-compulsory school-age girls with psychosocial problems, substance abuse, and self-harm issues. The institution is tasked with providing care for girls with special care needs.

Job Description

Are you motivated by helping young people in vulnerable life situations? Do you also enjoy organizing, leading, and planning? Then apply for the position of Group Leader at SiS. As a Group Leader, you contribute to a safe and secure environment for both placed children and young people as well as staff. SiS Youth Home Ljungaskog is planning to launch a new unit in Helsingborg and is therefore seeking a Group Leader.

We are looking for a Group Leader for a discharge-preparatory unit in Helsingborg.

On our discharge-preparatory unit, young people are preparing for a more independent life. The unit is part of the youth home but is located in a housing facility outside the main youth home area. Young people in our discharge-preparatory units live and spend their leisure time in apartments or other housing forms outside the youth home. They attend school externally or are in internships. Treatment activities consist mainly of skills training aimed at preparing the young person for a functioning life after their time at SiS, both practically and socially.

In the role of Group Leader, you work actively in the operational care and treatment work on the unit. You are responsible for planning, operationally leading, and distributing the daily work. You act as a role model and promote that the work is conducted in a legally secure manner and in accordance with current directives, methods, and set goals. You keep the unit manager regularly updated on issues that may affect the work environment, care and treatment environment, or deficiencies in the operations. Onboarding and supervision of new employees are also part of your work. You are part of a team with the unit manager and a treatment secretary, and you will work closely together to create good results.

Qualifications

To thrive and succeed in the role of Group Leader, you are motivated by working with and helping people in vulnerable life situations. The operational work and the interaction with young people are your main focus. You are good at planning, organizing, and prioritizing work efficiently and are clear in your communication with others. At the same time, you are a good listener and affirming in your approach to young people and staff, and you are skilled at building relationships. You have a professional attitude, good collaboration skills, and the ability to understand others' perspectives. The work is sometimes challenging and requires that you remain stable and keep your cool even in stressful situations.

You must also have:

  • A relevant university degree with a focus on social sciences, care, or behavioral sciences, or other education combined with work experience that SiS considers equivalent.

At SiS, we value good leadership. This means that as a leader, you take responsibility for the whole, act as a good role model, drive development, promote good collaboration, and are clear in your communication.
