The sharpened security-political situation that Sweden is in places increasingly high demands on the technical systems within the navy. Are you the person we are looking for who can contribute to the availability of the Swedish naval platforms? The position involves working with technical systems on surface combatants, mine countermeasures vessels, and support ships, where propulsion systems with included engines, gearboxes, and propulsors are the main focus within the area of responsibility. Other surrounding systems within your area are hydraulics, power generation, and control/regulation systems of various kinds.

About the Operations Control Office (DSK)

The Operations Control Office is part of the Naval Staff's Material Office and designs and procures both service and repairs for the Swedish Armed Forces' ships and boats. With professional employees, we carry out and develop operations together with the rest of the Swedish Armed Forces and in close cooperation with the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) and industry. The department (DSK) consists of approximately 90 employees distributed across four locations; Karlskrona, Berga, Muskö, and Gothenburg. The position is titled Systems Engineer in the Swedish Armed Forces and is located in Muskö.

Main Responsibilities

  • Prepare preventive and corrective maintenance measures in dialogue with operating units and convert these into orders to suppliers
  • Control and quality assure (through e.g., documentation review, inspections, and verification) maintenance performed by suppliers
  • Provide basis for economic follow-up of placed orders
  • Follow up on the technical status of materiel (including spare parts, documentation, maintenance status, materiel checks, and performance verification) and propose measures
  • Conduct dialogue regarding orders/overhauls with suppliers and operators
  • Represent customers within your own technical area towards other technical parties within the Swedish Armed Forces, FMV, and industry

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • Approved upper secondary education
  • Post-secondary education with a technical focus or other relevant competence for the area that the employer assesses as equivalent
  • Technical experience with engines and/or electronic systems (e.g., propulsion, power generation, and control of these)
  • Communicates fluently in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing
  • Experience working in technical support systems for operation and maintenance
  • Category B driver's license

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of ship technical systems, especially machinery and propulsion systems
  • Experience of technical system or maintenance work within the machinery and propulsion area
  • Experience with fire alarm and extinguishing systems
  • Experience handling technical information in both paper and digital formats, as well as using operation monitoring systems
  • Experience working in support systems SAP/S4HANA
  • Experience in technical service in the Swedish Armed Forces
  • Experience from shipping or shipyard industry

Employment type: Permanent. The Swedish Armed Forces apply a six-month probationary period.

The position includes business travel, primarily within Sweden.

As part of this work, the Swedish Armed Forces have organized a Naval Staff for the leadership of the Naval units. The Naval Staff is established in Muskö in Haninge Municipality.
