Do you want to drive the design of future products? We are looking for an independent Industrial Designer who wants to define the design language of the next generation in close collaboration with global automotive customers.
About the role
As an Industrial Designer at Artifex, you will have overall responsibility for developing and refining both interior and exterior design for automotive components. The role operates in early and advanced R&D phases where aesthetics, ergonomics, sustainability, and brand identity are woven together.
You will be based at Lindholmen in Gothenburg and work within a team of 11 people. This involves a strong focus on tasks including analysis, benchmarking, testing, and calculation.
Your main responsibilities
- Concept Development & Design: Create and visualize design concepts (sketches, 3D models, renderings) with a focus on new energy and tomorrow's design language. You ensure that your designs are practically manufacturable.
- Trend & Market Analysis: Stay updated on industry trends, material development, and competitors' design languages to recommend the right path forward for our products.
- Technical Sales & Customer Contact: Act as an innovation ambassador. The role involves travel to meet customers on-site as well as participating in trade fairs and conferences to support the market and R&D.
- Reporting: You report to the Senior R&D Manager. The team is growing and will consist of 11 people by autumn (plus an additional 7 people in a parallel group).
Who are you?
We are looking for someone who is creative, structured, and confident in driving the design process independently. You have a strong ability to communicate your ideas and thrive with many contact points, both internally and externally.
Requirements and preferences:
- University education in industrial design, product design, or transport design.
- Experience in design work within the automotive sector or equivalent advanced product development.
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g., plastic, composite, sheet metal).
- Very good skills in relevant 2D/3D tools (CAD, rendering, etc.).
- Fluent English in both speech and writing (Swedish is an advantage).
- Health requirements: The role requires that you do not have asthma-like symptoms (due to the work environment during testing and laboratory work).
What we offer
- Salary: Fixed monthly salary.
- Location: Lindholmen, Gothenburg (with business travel).
- Development: A key role in a rapidly growing R&D organization where you shape products in the highly relevant field of new energy.
