About the Role

Hello! Are you our new employee in the field of speech disorders for our special education groups? With experience and education in the field of speech disorders, you will work together with the teams to give our students even better conditions to succeed in school. We can offer you meaningful and varied work with good development opportunities. We are looking for a person who will work with our two special education groups.

The purpose of the special education group is to give students with extensive needs for special support the opportunity to develop academically and socially in a more structured and adapted learning environment. The group aims to create better conditions for study peace, clear structure, and individual support. The intervention with a special education group is a temporary support measure.

In Gällivare Municipality, there are a total of 9 primary schools, both in the central town and in our villages in the countryside. In addition to teachers with basic qualifications, Gällivare Municipality's primary schools also employ lead teachers, special needs pedagogues, special education teachers, counselors, school nurses, class mentors, and student assistants/resources. In grades 1–6, there are class mentors at our schools, and in the urban area, there are school wardens in grades 7–9. Our two new special education groups will be located at Tallbackaskolan and Hedskolan, our two largest F–6 schools. The staff will be under the central student health service's area of operation.

Responsibilities

As an employee with competence in the field of speech disorders, you help create opportunities where all students are offered the chance to achieve the goals and where learning is experienced as meaningful, stimulating, and joyful. You will work with teaching the students in the group at both individual and group levels, maintain close contact with guardians, and coordinate interventions needed to give our students optimal conditions for development. You will also have close contact with the students' mentors and other teachers instructing the student. Competence in the field of speech disorders will share the position between the two special education groups and work with teaching and assessment.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are educated as a speech therapist or have other education that the employer deems equivalent in the field of speech disorders. You should be responsible, clear, and driven, and have an easy time building good relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues. Commitment, solution-focus, innovation, interest in and ability to collaborate are qualities we value. We also place great emphasis on personal suitability. Within the framework of the national minority language law, Gällivare Municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is an advantage when applying for employment in Gällivare Municipality.

As a language support worker, you need to have a university education in the field or other education/experience that the employer deems suitable for the assignment.

A certificate of good conduct (extract from the police record) is required upon employment.

Working Hours/Duration

The position is fixed-term until 2027-06-30 with the possibility of extension. You will receive a permanent position in Gällivare Municipality. The position as a language support worker will include a substitute position for vacation.
