Are you passionate about women's health and eager to work in an engaged and competent team in close collaboration with breast surgeons, pathologists, oncologists, and breast care nurses? Then this is your chance!

Our mammography unit consists of 11 radiographers, three specialists in radiology, and three ST-doctors (specialist trainees) with a focus on mammography. The operations cover both clinical mammography and screening. The clinic for clinical mammography is located in newly renovated facilities as part of the County Clinic for Imaging and Functional Medicine at Sunderby Hospital. We have five fixed screening units distributed across the respective hospitals in the county, serving an area of approximately 250,000 inhabitants.

The clinical operations are focused on mammography and ultrasound, and to a limited extent, MRI. With an additional specialist in the team, we look forward to the opportunity to develop the operations by introducing both VAE (Vacuum-Assisted Excision) and contrast-enhanced mammography.

In 2025, we introduced AI support in screening review.

We are looking for

We are looking for you who are a specialist in radiology, specifically mammography, for the position of Consultant Physician (Overläkare) or Specialist Physician (Specialistläkare).

As a Consultant Physician, you should have:

• Several years of well-merited clinical service (at least 4 years) as a specialist physician with broad and extensive knowledge in the specialty and/or relevant subspecialty required for work on the department
• Documented teaching and supervisory merits (including approved ST-supervisor training)

A PhD with active research in a relevant subject area is meritorious.

Great emphasis will be placed on your personal qualities. You have good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing.

What you will work with

Serving as a Consultant Physician implies increased responsibility compared to serving as a Specialist Physician.

A Consultant Physician:

• Must have medical knowledge and competence to be independently medically responsible for a specific area and participates in overall responsibility for their specialty as well as part of the overall responsibility for the clinic's total operations. This includes, among other things, working to ensure that relevant employees are focused on set goals
• Is expected to contribute to the development of evidence-based care and be ready to supervise students and colleagues in all clinical situations
• Is expected to show good leadership qualities and be able to take responsibility for operational development as well as lead projects and improvement work

Time worked solely as a specialist physician is not sufficient to qualify as a consultant physician.

In your daily work, you can expect to work as a breast radiologist with both screening review and clinical mammography, as well as participate in multidisciplinary conferences in a well-functioning team with surgeons, pathologists, and oncologists.

We are looking for Specialist Physicians

We are looking for you with a Swedish medical license and completed specialist training in radiology with good knowledge of Swedish in both speech and writing. You have a solid interest in our specialty and want to influence the future development of the specialty within the region.

You work as a breast radiologist with clinical mammography and screening review. The duties include supervising ST-doctors. You participate in multidisciplinary conferences/breast rounds in an stimulating and developing work climate.

Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability. We expect you to have personal maturity, judgment, and great commitment. You are flexible and have good cooperation skills. You are interested in development and change work.

Attached to the application for Consultant/Specialist Physician:

• Certificate of medical degree from the university or universities where you completed your basic education. This also applies if you are educated in another EU country or outside the EU
• Licence certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare (Socialstyrelsen)
• Specialist certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare (Socialstyrelsen)
• Optional certificate of academic degree, such as Doctor of Medicine or Docent, as well as date of defense and title of the thesis
• Complete updated publication list, if applicable
• Certificate/documentation of teaching experience and possibly other pedagogical merits
• Optionally further documented merit regarding, for example, clinical knowledge/experience, clinical development work, leadership experience, and anything else you wish to highlight as meritorious for the sought position
