Academic Laboratory

We are Akademiska Sjukhuset – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a county hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer healthcare to two million people in Central Sweden. Something is always happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother undergoes surgery, a colleague is hailed as a hero. Here, you will experience both challenging trials and fantastic events, within a strong community of colleagues. We welcome your application!

Our Operations

Clinical Chemistry and Pharmacology (KKF) is part of the Academic Laboratory business area. We are a highly specialized, accredited operation that performs diagnostics around the clock and provides guidance in the fields of chemistry and pharmacology. The analyses are fast and quality-assured to streamline healthcare processes and support research and development. We also support patient-oriented activities in both inpatient and outpatient care. Approximately 140 employees work within KKF, and we always strive to be an attractive workplace with engaged colleagues and good leadership.

Your Role

This position is a temporary vacancy for our maintenance department within the logistics division, as one of our maintenance workers is undergoing further training.

A large part of the daily tasks for a maintenance worker here involves packing and shipping patient samples, primarily within Sweden but also internationally, which requires a good understanding of sample handling and the sample's journey through the laboratory. Additionally, you will work with:

  • ordering consumable materials
  • inventory management, such as unpacking and warehousing
  • receiving deliveries for the entire KKF
  • handling fault reports and service requests for KKF premises
  • waste management
  • ordering and managing work clothes
  • maintaining order in staff rooms and environmental stations
  • maintaining coffee machines and photocopiers

The work is crucial for keeping the laboratory running, and the role involves supporting the entire operation. Tasks are distributed within the group, which, besides you, consists of another maintenance worker and a laboratory assistant.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for you with a completed upper secondary education and preferably some years of experience in similar tasks. Good computer skills are a requirement as various computer programs are used in many of the daily tasks. You communicate fluently in Swedish, both orally and in writing.

Your Competencies

You thrive working independently and are structured, meticulous, and organize your work well both individually and together with your colleagues. Skills we look for in you include a good ability to collaborate and a high sense of service. A maintenance worker here works with support functions for the entire KKF and must be able to establish good contact and collaborate with all our employees, as well as create good relationships with our suppliers and customers. We will place great emphasis on personality fit.

We Offer

The temporary position starts as agreed and is planned to run until August 15, 2027, likely with the possibility of extension. The work will be performed during daytime hours 07:00 – 15:30. Probationary employment may apply.
