The Rudbeck Laboratory is a campus within medicine and pharmacy, located within walking distance of Uppsala University Hospital. Approximately 700 employees work here on research and education across 6 departments, as well as staff at clinical hospital laboratories. The purpose of the technical services organization (Intendentur) is to provide support and service for the core activities in education and research. Currently, 8 people work at the Rudbeck Laboratory technical services. During the second half of 2026, the technical services will take responsibility for an additional building located at Dag Hammarskjölds väg 17. Therefore, we need to hire two to three new service technicians.

Job Description

As a service technician, you will be part of a team working with operationally close service. Together, the team solves various tasks within the technical services' areas of responsibility. In the long term, the roles will be adapted based on needs and your interests, where you will have primary responsibility for certain tasks. Since the placement will be in a new building for us, you as a service technician will take an active part in establishing working methods and routines. The technical services' operations include:

  • Purchase and handling of AV technology in meeting rooms and lecture halls, as well as providing user support for AV technology.
  • Receiving goods and handling mail and packages within the building.
  • Caretaking for interior services and maintenance of furniture.
  • Maintenance of waste rooms and storage areas.
  • Supervision and maintenance of lecture halls, seminar rooms, study places, lunch rooms, and other common areas.
  • Handling room bookings, alarms, keys, and access cards.

The work also involves contact with the property owner's operations organization, cleaning staff, students, and handling inquiries received via email and phone. The work can be physically demanding as heavy lifting occurs.

Qualifications

Relevant technical education at least at the upper secondary level, or equivalent competence assessed by the employer as equivalent. Good general computer skills and technical understanding. Knowledge of AV technology. Practical skills regarding carpentry and assembly, for example. Ability to communicate in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing, with different groups within the organization, such as university teachers, students, administrators, system developers, operations organization, and external guests. To thrive and be successful in the role of service technician, you should be solution-oriented, flexible, and enjoy working with varied tasks. Your working style is characterized by a high ambition to provide service and the ability to adapt to new situations with a willingness to help. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability and that you fit into and complement the current staff group.

Desirable/Additional Qualifications

Knowledge of the university's organization and digital systems. Class B driver's license.

About the Employment

The positions are permanent (probationary period may apply). Number of positions: 2–3. Full-time (100%). Start date: 2026-11-01 or by agreement. Location: Uppsala.
