At Sikskär, Oskarslund, you will have the opportunity to work in a meaningful and developing environment where we together create the conditions for our residents to achieve increased quality of life. We are now looking for an engaged employee for a permanent position.

Workplace: Sikskär is located in Karlstad and is one of six departments at Oskarslund's care home. The facility is aimed at individuals with decisions according to the Social Services Act (SoL), and we actively work to create an environment that promotes both safety and good care. The residents are primarily elderly people with dementia, but there is also a mix of different diagnoses and needs, e.g., psychosis, schizophrenia, and neuropsychiatric diagnoses. You will work in a team, and we actively work to create a supportive and learning work environment. The position involves shifts during days, evenings, and weekends. Job Responsibilities

Here, you work to create a safe and meaningful everyday life for people with dementia, often in combination with mental illness. Together with the individual, you design individual interventions that strengthen independence and participation. The work involves tasks ranging from cleaning and personal care to motivating social interaction and activities. The work also involves collaboration with other professionals, such as nurses and the cognition team, to offer holistic support to the individuals.

We work with methods such as low-affective handling and BPSD, and you need to be prepared to handle both calm moments and challenging situations. The work includes documentation and continuous follow-up of interventions through implementation plans. You will also be responsible for helping with, for example, medication in collaboration with the home's nurse.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are trained as a nurse assistant (undersköterska) or care worker, preferably with a focus on psychiatry or equivalent education assessed by the employer as equivalent. You also need to have experience working with low-affective handling to have good prerequisites. It is also meritorious if you have experience with dementia, substance abuse issues, care work, and self-harm behavior. Since we work with the methods BPSD, MI (Motivational Interviewing), and low-affective handling, it is meritorious if you have knowledge of these methods.

Good Swedish skills, both spoken and written, are required, as we use the language as a working tool in contact with care recipients as well as in documentation and record keeping.

We are looking for a person with strong collaboration skills who can resolve conflicts in a constructive way. You are self-reliant and take responsibility for your tasks, while being receptive to others' needs and feedback. Your personal maturity helps you read different situations, and your flexibility makes you open to changes, which contributes to continuous improvements in the work.
