Do you want to help shape the future of meals for children and young people?
The Meal Unit in Sollentuna Municipality works based on a common meal program focused on health, sustainability, and quality. We create nutritious meals and safe environments that contribute to equal health and sustainable development. Every day, we serve approximately 14,000 meals in preschools and schools. Our kitchens are important for giving children and students a positive relationship with food, where the meal becomes part of learning and inspires good, sustainable eating habits. With varied and largely plant-based meals and a calm, inclusive environment, we make a difference every day.
Job Responsibilities
As a kitchen assistant, you work in a kitchen where, together with colleagues, you contribute to creating a pleasant and secure meal experience for children/students in our schools and preschools. Depending on whether you work in a preschool or a school, the days look slightly different. In a preschool, you are responsible for portioning out the day's meals into designated containers and ensuring that the food reaches the departments on time and with good quality. After the meals, you collect the departments' carts, handle dishwashing, and ensure that the kitchen is kept clean, organized, and in accordance with current hygiene routines. In a school, you ensure that the food is served in the buffet and that you are available in the dining hall for students during lunch.
The work also includes handling special diets, salad preparation, and working according to HACCP and self-control procedures. In this role, you may assist with simple cooking, heating, or preparations. You meet children and educators daily and contribute to a positive meal environment through close and service-oriented collaboration.
The position is a permanent part-time employment at 50%.
Qualifications
To thrive and succeed in the role, you need to be self-reliant and take responsibility for your tasks. You collaborate well and build good relationships with colleagues, are service-oriented, and meet the children with a secure and warm approach. You work carefully and with quality awareness, maintaining order and tidiness.
Requirements:
- Experience in similar work in a large kitchen or competence/experience that the employer considers suitable.
- Good understanding of food hygiene.
- You must have worked according to HACCP and with self-control.
- Good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing.
- Experience in handling special diets and allergies.
Merits:
- Experience working in preschool or school.
Application
In this recruitment, we place great emphasis on personal suitability. Before appointment, a check of extracts from the police criminal record will be conducted.
For those who proceed in the recruitment, interviews will be held on-site at Sollentuna City Hall. Interviews will take place during week 26–27.
The position is a permanent part-time employment at 50%.
