Our Operations

The Sterile Processing Department is responsible for the handling of sterile goods at Akademiska sjukhuset, Region Uppsala, and external customers. The operations are certified according to ISO 9001:2015, and the handling of sterile goods is conducted in accordance with legislation, authority requirements, regulations, and directives. The operations run 24/7.

Your Role

As a Sterile Processing Technician in our Sterile Processing Department, you will work with cleaning, disinfecting, inspecting, and sterilizing surgical instruments used in healthcare. You will work with both manual and mechanical methods, following strict routines and regulations to ensure the highest possible patient safety. The role also involves handling and packing instruments, as well as monitoring inventory and materials.

Your main responsibilities include:

• Cleaning and disinfection of surgical instruments
• Sterilization of instruments according to established routines and standards.
• Documentation and traceability in accordance with current regulations.
• Collaboration with other units to ensure access to sterilized products.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for you with education as a Sterile Processing Technician or Cleanroom Operator, with experience in sterile processing work or equivalent competence as we see it. Experience working in a sterile processing unit is advantageous. We expect you to have good knowledge of hygiene and sterilization processes and the ability to work in a structured and meticulous manner under high pressure. You should also be IT-literate and have experience working in documentation systems. You must have good proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written.

Your Competencies

We see you as a responsible and meticulous person. You have good teamwork skills and are service-oriented. You should also be flexible and adaptable to changing work conditions, as well as capable of working independently but also as part of a team.
