About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service (Kriminalvården)

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce reoffending – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will become safer and more secure for everyone. We are the agency responsible for prisons, probation services, remand prisons, and client transport.

The Section for Operational HR East is part of the HR department, which provides close HR support, advice, and guidance so that managers are strengthened in their role as employers and increase their ability to lead operations and employees. The section currently consists of an HR Manager, four HR experts within the competence areas of employer support (employment law and payroll), occupational health and safety, and workforce planning, as well as a team leader for recruitment who leads 15 recruitment specialists and one case handler.

Our success factors are that we are learning and communicative, that we base our work on the agency's direction, goals, and mission as well as the managers' needs. We work together across competence areas and enable joint solutions together with partners and those we serve.

Job Description

As an HR Expert at the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, you will independently guide the operation's managers on issues from the entire HR area, but with a special focus on the occupational health and safety area. You will continuously work to maintain, clarify, and further develop the agency's strategies, policies, and processes in the area, as well as the application of current legislation. You will work with both long-term and short-term quality support in individual cases, but also have the opportunity to work with strategic development issues within the subject area.

The work includes participating in competence development initiatives, which means, among other things, participating in the training of managers and employees. Furthermore, you will, through investigation and analysis, prepare materials for the HR management's decisions.

You will work in a developing and supportive environment where you get the opportunity to independently and together with colleagues drive employer issues for the whole country.

The work involves national business travel.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who find it easy to collaborate with others while taking responsibility for your own tasks and driving your processes forward. As a person, you are calm, attentive, and accommodating in your interactions. In your work, you adapt easily to changed circumstances and you see the opportunities in changes. Furthermore, you think strategically and have a broad perspective on issues. You will have your home base in the area of occupational health and safety, but we would appreciate it if you also had knowledge and experience from several subject areas within HR such as employment law, workforce planning, and wage formation.

For us, it is important that you share the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's fundamental values regarding a human view of humanity, respect for the individual, and belief in human will and ability to develop. You are also aware of and have an understanding of how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. Furthermore, you are expected to contribute with your approach to ensure that everyone is treated equally. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

We are looking for you who have:

  • An academic education in HR/work science orientation, or other education that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service considers relevant
  • Several years of broad experience from qualified, independent manager support within the HR area
  • Very good knowledge and experience in the area of occupational health and safety
  • Very good knowledge of working on reports/decision materials prior to decisions
  • Very good ability to express yourself well in speech and writing

It is meritorious if you have:

  • Experience of working with investigations of bullying and harassment
  • Experience of training in occupational health and safety
  • Experience of working in public sector operations
  • Experience of developing and implementing governing documents in a large organization
  • Experience of working in one or more HR areas such as workforce planning, employment law, wage formation, occupational health and safety, rehabilitation, and/or workplace culture
