About Us

The Psychosis Department is an acute psychiatric ward with 13 beds, primarily intended for the care of individuals suffering from psychosis. Our care is designed from a holistic perspective, taking into account the individual's specific needs and global life situation. On the ward, we provide pharmacological treatment, Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT), therapeutic conversations, and nursing care based on person-centered care. We also consider the person's social and economic situation, supported by a healthcare social worker. A psychologist is also available as support through psychiatric outpatient care.

We are approximately 25 staff members working on the ward, consisting of nurses, care assistants, doctors, healthcare social workers, and medical secretaries. You will work in a care team where the goal is to provide good nursing care for each unique person. On the Psychosis Department, we constantly strive to practice and develop person-centered care, which we hope you want to be a part of.

We have begun a centralization in Sörmland of LRV care (Care with Special Responsibility for Treatment), to the Psychosis Department at Mälarsjukhuset, for patients who are in the discharge phase from Karsudden Forensic Psychiatry.

Your Responsibilities

Typical nursing duties included in the care work are, for example, dispensing/distributing medication and technical care tasks, such as blood sampling, inserting needles, wound care, catheterization (KAD), handling ECGs, and bladder scanners. Conduct motivating and caring conversations, observe, document in the medical record system Cosmic, write nursing plans and nursing summaries, lead rounds, report, and be engaged in the development work on the ward.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a registered nurse. For the position, it is required that you, in addition to your professional knowledge, can work both independently and in a team. You should be able to take initiative, be flexible, and have good collaboration skills. Specialist education in psychiatry is meritorious, but great emphasis is placed on experience, references, genuine commitment, willingness to develop care, good communication skills, and personal qualities.
