About the Company
GKN Aerospace Sweden is part of GKN Aerospace, which manufactures engine components, aircraft structures, cabin windows, wiring, and much more for many of the world's aircraft. The companies within the Aerospace division that work on jet engine parts form the Engines business unit. At our facility in Trollhättan, we develop and manufacture advanced components for aircraft and space rocket engines. We also work with engine maintenance.
At GKN Aerospace, you become part of a global company where technology, innovation, and collaboration are central driving forces. You will work in a future-oriented industry with excellent opportunities for professional and personal development. We offer competitive terms, a secure employment, and a work environment where your contribution truly makes a difference.
About the Role
Do you want to work with advanced aircraft engines and help develop future propulsion systems? We are now looking for an Engine Performance Engineer to join a dedicated team working with both today's and tomorrow's aircraft engines.
You will become part of the Performance Department, which works with propulsion systems and gas turbine technology – primarily related to the RM12/RM16 engines in the JAS 39 Gripen, but also stationary gas turbines and future engine concepts.
Here, analysis, system understanding, and technology development are combined in an environment where your skills truly make a difference.
Your Role
In this role, you will work with the entire chain within engine performance – from analysis and modeling to testing and concept development.
You will be responsible for, among other things:
Analyzing aircraft engine performance and operational limits
Working with system modeling and concept studies
Evaluating data from flight and engine tests
Contributing to the development of next-generation engine concepts
Supporting customers and users with technical expertise
Participating in the development of methodologies, tools, and working methods
The role offers the opportunity to work both close to operational technology and in early concept phases – where future solutions are shaped.
We are looking for you who
We believe you are an engineer driven by a desire to understand how complex systems really work.
You have:
A Master's degree in Aeronautics, Mechanical Engineering, Technical Physics, or similar
At least 3 years of relevant experience
Good understanding of jet engines/gas turbines and aerodynamics
Experience with system modeling or technical analysis
Good communication skills in Swedish and English
Meritorious qualifications
Experience from the aviation or defense industry
Programming/scripting (e.g., Python, Matlab, C++, Fortran)
Experience with gas turbine simulation tools (e.g., Gasturb, NPSS, Proosis)
To thrive in this role, we believe you are:
Curious and deeply interested in technology
Analytical with strong system understanding
Collaborative and communicative
Confident in taking responsibility and driving your work forward
You thrive in the borderland between theory and reality – where models meet test data and real engine functionality.
The position requires you to undergo and be approved according to current security clearance regulations. For positions where Permaneva/GKN's customer has requirements for security classification, this may, in some cases, entail citizenship requirements.
Application
In this recruitment, GKN Aerospace collaborates with Skill.
If you have questions about the position, you are welcome to contact the responsible recruiter, Johan Zizala, at [email protected]
