The Department of Culture and Leisure works to promote culture and leisure activities in the municipality. We are a politically guided service organization where the residents are our clients. Together, we find new ideas and solutions that contribute to the residents' quality of life, sustainability, health, integration, and reduced social exclusion.

Something big is also happening right now in Valsta, Sigtuna Municipality. In the middle of the square, a brand new culture house - Mimer - is rising. The building is designed so that both residents and organizations can meet and develop in new ways. Behind the large windows, dynamic content is growing. Here, the library, media studio, creative workshop, stage, café, meeting rooms, and community services are gathered under one roof. Together, these activities will form a living culture house that contributes to a safe and sustainable Valsta.

Job Responsibilities

Do you want to be part of creating something entirely new where art, culture, and flavors meet? At the turn of the year 2026/27, we will open the new Mimer Culture House in Valsta, and we are now looking for engaged and creative art and café hosts who want to be involved from the start.

Here, a living Art Café is created where creativity and good flavors meet in an environment inspired by art and culture from around the world. We want to invite visitors to participate and create a place where people meet and are inspired. You offer them friendly treatment and good service.

In this role, you take responsibility together with the main coordinator and colleagues to develop and run the café operations while also helping to build it up. You work primarily operationally in the café but also creatively and developmentally with activities and experiences for visitors.

The responsibilities include, among other things:

• Keep the café operations neat and pleasant.
• Create a welcoming environment where food, culture, and art meet.
• Participate in artistic activities in the café.
• Involve and invite visitors to participate and create.
• Collaborate with colleagues throughout the Mimer Culture House.
• Contribute to the development of the culture house and ensure it is kept clean and tidy.

The positions are part-time employment with varying scope and working hours, adapted to the needs of the operations.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have:

• Experience working in café operations.
• Basic education in food handling.
• Interest in and/or experience with artistic creation.
• Ability to work independently and take responsibility.

It is an advantage if you are curious about food and café culture from around the world.

To succeed in the role, we see that you are a creative and development-oriented person who has the ability to create new experiences and contribute ideas that develop the operations. You are secure and stable with other people, and you have a natural ability to collaborate and enjoy working with others. At the same time, you are result-oriented and have the ability to turn ideas into practice, create structure in the operational work, and get things done. You are also a person who likes people and meetings and thrives in a social and lively environment where you actively contribute to community and participation.
