The Medicines Centre is responsible for promoting rational, safe, and cost-effective use of medicines, as well as optimal medicine management within the county.

The Medicines Centre consists of three units:

• The Medicine Supply Unit: Responsible, for example, for the medicine service, including the management of the region's medicine vending machines and emergency stock.
• The Medicine Preparation Unit: Responsible for the preparation of cytostatics, other sterile extemporaneous preparations, and the preparation of parenteral medicines on wards within the county.
• The Pharmacy Services Unit: Responsible for clinical pharmacy, work with prescription support in the region's medical record system Cosmic, and medicine statistics.

The Medicine Preparation Unit consists of a unit manager, two pharmacy assistants, and fifteen pharmacists. We are currently looking for a replacement for one of our employees who is on parental leave.

The Medicine Preparation Unit and the Medicines Centre face an exciting future, where services will be further developed based on the needs and opportunities in the new hospital buildings currently taking shape. The aim is to improve medicine handling with increased pharmaceutical competence and the introduction of new technical support.

Your Responsibilities

Your role involves independently performing all stages of the preparation process, as well as working as a ward pharmacist. Depending on needs, competence, experience, and interest, you will also participate in the unit's other services. There is a constant need for new preparations and services. We work closely with healthcare providers to support them in their work in the best possible way.

As the Medicines Centre has a broad area of responsibility regarding medicines, other tasks may also arise, such as supporting healthcare units in their medicine handling and quality work. The work is primarily carried out at Karlstad Central Hospital, but the Medicines Centre operates throughout the entire county.

Your Skills and Competencies

We are looking for you who are a licensed pharmacist or pharmacy technician with preparation authorization, and who want a stimulating and varied job in close collaboration with healthcare.

As a person, you are independent and take responsibility for planning, organizing, and driving your work forward. At the same time, you have good collaboration skills and enjoy working together with other professional groups.

You are quality-conscious and meticulous in your approach, and you treat others in a service-oriented and professional manner. Furthermore, you have analytical and problem-solving skills, viewing challenges as things to be solved. You communicate well in both Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing, with colleagues and other healthcare staff, and you are computer literate.

Experience with extemporaneous manufacturing or work in a hospital pharmacy is meritorious, but you may also be a recent graduate interested in trying out work with medicine production.
