Smurfit Westrock is looking for a commercially driven Strategic Buyer who wants to take a leading role in developing the company's sustainable business on a global market.

We are looking for you who have negotiation experience and experience in driving larger and complex business deals. As a Strategic Buyer at Smurfit Westrock, you will become a key person in the company's business development – responsible for major contracts, international supplier partnerships, and close contact both internally and externally.

You represent the business in important commercial negotiations and serve as a clear face of the company. With your drive, commercial focus, and fresh perspectives, you contribute to developing purchasing work and knowledge transfer within the team.

Together with internal stakeholders, you conduct tenders, handle ongoing contractual issues, and develop existing agreements. You collaborate closely with the purchasing manager, colleagues, and the group's central purchasing function to lead business processes from analysis to final contract.

The role also includes responsibility for commercial negotiations, monitoring cost and market developments, and supplier qualification – always with a strong commercial and sustainability focus, in line with Smurfit Westrock's policies and guidelines.

About the role:

As a Strategic Buyer, you will play a central role in developing and managing the company's supplier relationships and ensuring cost-effective, sustainable, and long-term business arrangements. You drive negotiations, evaluate suppliers, and actively contribute to Smurfit Westrock's goals regarding quality, environment, and business benefit.

• Responsible for strategic purchasing within selected categories.
• Lead and participate in negotiations, tenders, and supplier evaluations.
• Work cross-functionally with production, logistics, and technical teams.
• Contribute to improvement projects and sustainability initiatives.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for you with documented experience in strategic purchasing – preferably from manufacturing or process industries. You have good negotiation skills and are confident in handling both national and international business. You thrive in a role where business is in focus and you have the ability to drive processes from analysis to conclusion.

As a person, you are analytical, self-initiative, and have a natural commercial mindset. You bring new perspectives and are accustomed to taking responsibility from start to finish.

What you bring to the role:

• Experience with complex tenders and business negotiations.
• An academic degree in economics, engineering, or a related field.
• Very good communication skills in Swedish and English.
• Proficiency in working with business systems and data-driven decision-making tools.
