Academic University Hospital's Management and Support Functions seeks a Registered Nurse for the Staffing Unit
We are the Academic University Hospital – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a county hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer healthcare to two million people in Central Sweden. Something is always happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother undergoes surgery, a colleague is hailed as a hero. Here, you will experience both tough trials and fantastic events, in a strong community with colleagues. We welcome your application!
Are you attracted by variety, flexibility, and the opportunity to develop in your professional role?
Do you want to work on several different wards, meet new colleagues and patient groups – while having the security of a permanent position with a large employer like the Academic University Hospital and Uppsala County Council?
Then the Staffing Unit might be just right for you.
About the Staffing Unit
Our mission is to support the hospital's operations during short-term sick leave, longer absences, and when priority areas need extra reinforcement. We are responsible for planning, coordinating, and administering internal staffing at the hospital – always with the goal of having the right competence in the right place at the right time.
Today, we have nurses trained on 36 wards, primarily within adult somatic care. We are now in an expansion phase, where we are building up staffing in psychiatry and the Children's Hospital as well. This makes our mission both varied and important for the hospital as a whole.
Here, you have the opportunity to be a sought-after and appreciated resource across the entire hospital – while gaining broadened competence and a unique opportunity to develop within the many different activities of inpatient care.
Your Role
As a nurse with us, you have your employment centrally at the hospital but work across several units.
- You will be introduced to at least eight wards, according to an individual introduction plan. Which wards you are introduced to is determined by the hospital's current needs.
- The schedule is planned in 13-week periods; we make necessary adjustments based on staffing goals to create an even distribution of all work shifts. You know which days and times you work – but the ward you staff may vary from day to day.
- You get a daily life filled with variation, competence development, and the opportunity to contribute where you do the most good.
This is the position for you if you want to be challenged, grow, and broaden your competence – without having to leave the security of a permanent employment.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for you who are a registered nurse and have:
- at least 2 years of experience in emergency care or
- at least 4 years of experience from a care ward in inpatient care
It is an advantage if you:
- have worked in different operations or the staffing industry
- have good experience with the medical record system Cosmic
Your Competence and Personal Profile
To thrive with us, we believe you are a confident and experienced nurse with:
- good collaboration skills and an ease in contributing to different teams
- high social competence and the ability to create and maintain professional relationships
- confidence in your professional role and a desire to work in varied environments
- ability to prioritize quickly, make decisions, and be self-reliant
You simply enjoy when the pace changes, when you get to learn something new, and when you get to step in and contribute.
We Offer
We offer a unique combination of security and development:
- a permanent position with good benefits
- flexibility and inpatient care supplements
- individual scheduling
- working days/evenings or rotation
- a thoughtful introduction, adapted to you and your previous experience
- the opportunity to broaden your competence within several different operations
Here, you get the prerequisites to grow and at the same time make a difference – for real.
As an employee within Uppsala County Council, you are covered by one of Sweden's best collective agreements and through your employment, you get access to benefits (such as occupational pension, accident insurance, more vacation days for those who have turned 40). As an employee, you also have the opportunity to buy a period ticket for UL at a favorable price and use Friskhuset's gym, where you have the opportunity to participate in group training, physiotherapy, ergonomics, personal training, lectures, massage, and relocation training. Here you get benefits that make a difference, read about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/formaner/ (https://regionuppsala.se/formaner/)).

Uppsala County Council values the qualities that equal gender distribution and diversity bring to the operations and welcomes applicants of all genders and with different birth backgrounds, functionalities, and life experiences.
Uppsala County Council mobilizes all permanently employed personnel based on the needs of the total defense. This means no obligations for the individual employee in peacetime but is solely a planning measure.
Before a decision on employment, a check of suspicion and criminal records is conducted for all job seekers who in the sought employment may come to work within psychiatric care, habilitation, care of children and youth, or compulsory care of addicts, areas covered by optional record extracts. This thus applies to all who will work close to patients, even if the tasks currently are not intended to mainly contain work with the aforementioned patient groups.
This recruitment is conducted entirely through Uppsala County Council's efforts, and we decline phone calls from recruitment agencies and advertising sales.
