Within the Care and Elderly Services Administration, full-time work is the norm. This means that all permanent employees are fundamentally employed on a full-time basis. The Home Care Service provides service and care to elderly people and people with disabilities who continue to live in their own homes. Here, you will be appreciated for your willingness to take on and learn new tasks, as well as for your excellent way of interacting with people.

Description of duties

In your role, you provide service, care, and support to individuals receiving home care. This involves assisting with personal care such as hygiene, showering, toilet visits, dressing and undressing, and oral care, always respecting the user's privacy and individual needs. The duties may also include delegated health and medical tasks, such as administering medication or wound care under the guidance of a nurse.

You work independently but are part of a team with other assistant nurses and care aides in your area. You also have support from nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and planners.

We have fourteen home care offices located throughout central Uppsala and the countryside. One office will serve as your base. In your application, you can specify which area(s) you prefer to work in. You travel between homes by bicycle, e-bike, or car, depending on the area. Working hours include daytime, evenings, and weekends.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

• a high school education or is currently studying at high school.
• experience working in service industries, such as restaurants, retail, customer service, or hotels.
• good cycling skills and comfort cycling in all weather conditions, or a B-driver's license.
• good spoken and written skills in Swedish.

You are welcome to also have:

• education in care and elderly services and/or a certificate as an assistant nurse.
• experience working in care and elderly services and documentation within the sector.

As a person, you are service-oriented, calm, attentive, and accommodating in your interactions. You are empathetic and can quickly put yourself in someone else's perspective or situation. This job suits you if you collaborate and relate to others in a listening and flexible manner. Last but not least, you are a communicative person who is a good listener and adapts your communication style.

As of July 1, 2023, "assistant nurse" (undersköterska) is a protected professional title. To use the title assistant nurse, you must provide proof from the National Board of Health and Welfare or a certificate stating you were employed permanently as an assistant nurse on July 1, 2023. Those with assistant nurse education but lacking proof or certificates may use the title "care assistant" (omvårdnadsassistent) during a transition period.
