Bergby Central School – A school in natural surroundings

Bergby Central School, together with Tröjde, Björke, and Milboskolan, belongs to the Bergby Principal Area. The school is located in Bergby in the scenic Hamrånge area, approximately 3.5 miles north of Gävle City. Bus connections to the city are good, and we have a fair number of commuting staff. The school is a grades F-9 school with approximately 300 students and around 40 staff members distributed across three work teams.

We have good cooperation within the principal area and share a common planning model and a developed systematic quality work system. In recent years, the school has been expanded with several new classrooms, teacher workrooms, and a new large all-activity house – including a library, a full-size gymnasium, and an after-school center. We have a wonderful schoolyard that invites activity. Next to the school lies a nature reserve that we also use in our teaching.

We place great emphasis on our movement initiative, where we promote physical activity in school to improve students' health and learning. Job Responsibilities

Do you want to inspire students to move? As a PE teacher with us, you teach students in grades F-6 in Physical Education and Health. You plan, implement, and follow up on teaching based on the curriculum and actively work to create an inclusive, safe, and enjoyable learning environment where all students are given the opportunity to succeed. You have a unique opportunity to help develop the school's movement initiative both within teaching and as part of the school's daily life.

The job responsibilities include:

• Designing a good, enjoyable, and varied school day together with your colleagues, with the students' best interests at the forefront.
• Developing the school's movement initiative.
• Challenging and supporting students so they achieve good academic results and adapting your teaching to the needs and prerequisites of all students.
• Creating an active and healthy school environment.
• Working in collaboration with other educators, student health services, guardians, and other actors outside the school.

In accordance with Gävle Municipality's values, you have a good attitude towards people, a good ability to collaborate, and care about high quality in your work.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who:

• Have a teacher degree and teacher certification with eligibility to teach in grades F-6 and the subject of Physical Education and Health.
• Are familiar with, and have knowledge of, the compulsory school curriculum.
• Have the ability to express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing, as this is required in work dialogues with colleagues, guardians, and students.
• Have experience and knowledge of working with digital tools.

It is meritorious if you have:

• Taught students in the subject of Physical Education and Health in grades 7-9.

To succeed in the role, you have:

• The ability to create and maintain good relationships, both internally and externally. You collaborate well with people in different contexts and functions.
• Are structured and plan your work well.

The final candidate must be able to present a police certificate of good conduct for work in schools or preschools. This should not be attached to your application.

Working hours: Daytime.
