Regional Director at Ahlsell – One of the company's most critical leadership roles

Leading a region at Ahlsell involves much more than traditional sales leadership. It is one of the company's largest and most business-critical assignments, with responsibility for a business generating billions in revenue, hundreds of employees, and a region of significant strategic importance for Ahlsell's continued growth.

Ahlsell is now seeking a Regional Director for Region Central.

A role with significant authority

The role requires a leader with experience driving large-scale business operations where strategic vision, commercial accountability, and operational presence have been decisive. It is about setting direction, creating growth, and developing people – but also about being close to the business, customers, and daily operations.

Region Central generates approximately 3.2 billion SEK and consists of around 220 employees and 11 stores. The region stretches from Arvika in the west to Strängnäs in the east, covering a large part of central Sweden, including towns such as Karlstad, Örebro, Eskilstuna, and Västerås. The role involves responsibility through multiple management layers and places high demands on business acumen, leadership skills, and the ability to navigate a complex, high-paced organization.

As Regional Director, you lead a growth-oriented business with great breadth and dynamism. You have overall responsibility for the region's business, results, and continued development, while also expected to create engagement, build strong teams, and develop leaders and the organization over time.

– We want leaders who build trust, create engagement, and help people grow. You need to make business decisions, understand the numbers, and drive results, but also create energy within the organization and bring people along with you, says Christian Morton-Fincham, Sales Director at Ahlsell Sweden.

The assignment involves close collaboration with division management, the Swedish leadership team, and other regions, where you are expected to contribute both strategically and operationally to Ahlsell's continued development. The role requires the ability to switch between analysis and relationships, between long-term direction and presence in daily business.

For the right person, this is an opportunity to take on one of Ahlsell's most significant leadership roles, with major impact, significant authority, and excellent development prospects.

A culture of high trust

The culture at Ahlsell is characterized by simplicity, responsibility, and openness. Despite the company's size, there is a strong entrepreneurial spirit and a decentralized way of working where decisions are made close to the operations. This is also evident in the view on leadership. Here, presence, accessibility, and a down-to-earth approach are highly valued.

– Our employees know their business best. Therefore, it is important to create a climate of high trust and significant individual responsibility. We believe in leaders who are close to their teams and who build strong relationships over time, concludes Christian.

In the role, you are responsible for, among other things:

  • leading and developing the region's business with full profit and growth responsibility
  • developing the management team and organization through a present and value-driven leadership style
  • ensuring the implementation of Ahlsell's strategy and continued market growth
  • strengthening the business through close collaboration with customers, the market, and internal stakeholders
  • driving change, development, and improvement initiatives in the region

Are you the one we are looking for?

We are looking for you who is a confident, business-driven, and development-oriented leader with experience leading large operations through other managers. You combine strategic vision with operational engagement and have the ability to create both results and long-term trust within the organization.

You thrive in an environment with high pace, complex businesses, and many contact surfaces, where success is built on business acumen, clear leadership, and strong collaboration.

We would like you to have:

  • experience leading large business or sales organizations with full profit responsibility
  • documented ability to create growth and drive change in complex operations
  • experience leading through multiple management layers and developing strong management teams
  • good strategic and analytical skills as well as strong business sense
  • a leadership style characterized by clarity, trust, and the ability to create engagement
  • experience from matrix organizations is an advantage
  • academic degree or equivalent experience
  • excellent proficiency in Swedish and English

You are expected to travel throughout the region, but the placement will be at one of the offices in Karlstad, Örebro, Eskilstuna, or Västerås.
