Geneskolan is Örnsköldsvik Municipality's largest lower secondary school, with approximately 400 students distributed across 16 classes. At Geneskolan, we believe school should be a school in the truest sense, which is why we prioritize our core mission: teaching and providing our students with a high-quality education. We are now looking for a substitute teacher in Home and Consumer Studies, starting August 2, 2026, or as agreed, with a possibility of extension.

If you are new to the profession, Örnsköldsvik Municipality offers an induction program for new teachers. This means you will be assigned a mentor during your first year. Your mentor is an experienced teacher with the same or a closely related subject qualification, who can guide and support you.

Responsibilities

You will primarily teach Home and Consumer Studies in grades 7–9 and handle the documentation and contacts associated with the role. The assignment involves planning, implementing, and following up on teaching. Contact and collaboration with guardians is an important part of the job. You will also be part of a work team, and mentoring a class may be included in the position.

Qualifications

We are looking for you with a teaching degree and subject qualification in Home and Consumer Studies. Qualifications in other subjects are meritorious.

We expect you to have strong subject knowledge in your teaching areas. As a person, you are sensitive, responsible, and engaged. You are a confident adult and a clear leader who is expected to lead and manage in the classroom. Even outside the classroom, you maintain clear boundaries of the adult world and see it as natural to take on that responsibility.

Please attach a CV and a personal letter to your application.

In the event of employment, a valid extract from the Police Register of Offenses and a valid Swedish driver's license or passport must be presented to the employer.

Inspired by what it is like to live, work, and thrive in Örnsköldsvik?

At the Education Administration, we work to create good conditions for every child's and student's learning, development, and creativity. We aim to create a safe and inspiring learning environment where the joy of learning is at the forefront, and where children, students, and staff meet each other with respect.

As part of the interview process, we will conduct an identity check and verify citizenship. Accepted documents include a passport, international ID card, driver's license plus a personal certificate from the Swedish Tax Agency, or another ID document that strengthens citizenship. For some positions, a certificate of good conduct from the police is required. We welcome knowledge of Finnish and/or any of the Sami varieties, as Örnsköldsvik Municipality is part of both the Finnish and Sami administrative areas.

In our municipality, several positions are classified for security reasons, which may require a security clearance. These positions may require Swedish citizenship.
