Avesta Hospital is a small county hospital offering primary hospital care for residents in southern Dalarna and northern Västmanland. The hospital has a merged clinic comprising emergency care, internal medicine, geriatrics, and rehabilitation. This provides good conditions for fast and efficient care, from the emergency department to inpatient wards and further to rehabilitation in the patient's home. The hospital has approximately 40 beds distributed across an acute care ward, an internal medicine ward, and a ward for acute geriatrics, stroke, and rehabilitation. The emergency department is open 24/7 and treats approximately 20,000 patients per year.

A large part of the operations is specialized outpatient care, where various clinics and investigations are offered, for example, in cardiology (echocardiography, Holter monitoring, blood pressure measurements, TEE, exercise tests), endocrinology, nephrology (including home dialysis), gastroenterology (gastroscopy and colonoscopy), sleep medicine (nocturnal respiratory recordings and polysomnographies), and dementia investigations. Additionally, general internal medicine and geriatric investigations and treatment are offered, including bone marrow biopsies, pleural and ascitic taps, lumbar punctures, and more. The clinic also provides extensive inpatient paramedical care, as well as day and home rehabilitation. In total, we have 200 employees in various professional categories. We place great emphasis on education, and our goal is to be Sweden's best medical residency school, which has contributed to us often ranking high for medical placements in the AT ranking.

As a specialist in internal medicine, you will be part of the clinic's work in both inpatient and outpatient care. You will take on ward responsibilities for part of the department, including supervising resident doctors, and will have your own outpatient clinic. The duties also include on-call shifts. You will serve as a supervisor for AT, BT, and/or ST doctors, thereby contributing to the good educational climate. The position is full-time, but part-time opportunities may exist.

Requirements:

• Swedish medical license and specialist competence in internal medicine and/or a closely related relevant specialty
• Swedish language skills equivalent to at least level C1
