Forestry Planner

Description

The Property Department of the Diocese of Skara manages approximately 25,000 hectares of productive forest land, certified according to both FSC® and PEFC standards, and operates a business-oriented activity with a focus on long-term sustainability. Responsibilities

You will be part of a team with other planners and work on area planning for the implementation of forestry measures. A key part of the role is planning harvesting and forest care measures in accordance with certification requirements and the Species Protection Ordinance. Other tasks include monitoring and updating our division register, as well as economic follow-up after completed measures. You will work independently on operational field work, in close collaboration with the Diocesan Forest Guard and the contracting companies that carry out most of the forestry measures. You will also serve as a representative in road associations and as a contact person for property neighbors and authorities.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a university degree in forestry and experience with the tasks described above, or alternatively have other experience deemed equivalent. As an employer, we desire good knowledge of forest management and openness to the use of nature-based forestry and clear-cut-free forestry methods.

Experience in nature value assessment and good species knowledge, as well as experience from using forestry IT systems, is desirable.

The position involves travel and therefore requires a valid Category B driver's license.

Other Information

The position will be located in the eastern part of the Diocese of Skara – primarily within eastern Skaraborg as well as Habo and Mullsjö municipalities.

A company car will be available for business travel.
