About the job

We are looking for extra staff – chefs – for our restaurant and public service at Gothenburg City Theatre and Backa Theatre for the 2026–2027 season. At Gothenburg City Theatre, we run the Tiljan restaurant as well as several other bars and serving areas. At Backa Theatre, we operate the Backa Theatre Café & Bistro during our public performances.

We serve a variety of menus across our different serving locations in the theatre buildings, making your work as a chef varied and dynamic.

The position is a fixed-term contract on an as-needed basis, primarily during evenings and weekends. We offer collective agreement salaries and are covered by collective agreements (National Agreement between Swedish Performing Arts, the Scen och Film Union, and the Academic Professionals' Union).

Together with the theatre's other employees, you will become part of a team dedicated to creating and delivering quality theatre that entertains, engages, sparks debate, and encourages reflection.

About you

To work as a chef with us, you must have extensive experience and knowledge in professional à la carte cooking, as you are expected to work independently in the gastronomic field. Having attended a culinary school is considered an advantage.

A prerequisite for success in this role is a genuine passion for food and the culinary arts. You have a good handle on the chef profession, are outgoing, responsible, and see good service and a welcoming attitude as a given. You thrive when the pace is sometimes high, collaborate easily with others, value order and structure, and want to drive and develop our operations forward together with us.

As a person, you are unpretentious, clear, and receptive, and are motivated by contributing to a smooth workflow. You speak and write Swedish fluently. If you also have experience from other public-facing activities, we consider this an advantage.
