Unit Manager – Develop Supervision in a Changing Regulatory Environment

Do you want to lead a knowledge-intensive operation focused on further developing supervision in line with new regulations and risks? We are now looking for a Unit Manager for one of the two units at the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority (FI).

About the role

As a Unit Manager, you have a qualified assignment where you lead close to the operations and create structure, direction, and progress together with experienced and engaged employees. The role involves responsibility for prioritizing, making trade-offs, and holding the work together in an operation that is both complex and changing.

The unit is responsible for the supervision of insurance and occupational pension companies, with a focus on corporate governance, internal control, and compliance with Solvency II, IRRD, and IORP 2. Additionally, issues such as digitalization, AI, fraud, as well as preparedness and continuity are included. You lead the unit that works with ongoing supervisory activities, mapping, and targeted investigations in close collaboration with the area's legal department. The unit also participates in rule-making and international work. As a Unit Manager, you collaborate closely with the unit responsible for consumer protection and conduct supervision and work to ensure that the department's mission is held together in a well-functioning manner. You are part of the department's management group.

In your role as a manager, you hold the whole together and create conditions for employees to work independently and with high quality. You are present in everyday life and create good conditions for your employees' results and development, among other things through clear goals and ongoing follow-up. Your leadership is characterized by integrity and a trust-building approach. You value experience and contribute to an environment where one can reason, exchange perspectives, and develop the work over time. We are looking for you who thrive in operational leadership and who want to work close to both people and operations. You are secure in your role, receptive in your manner, and clear when needed. You develop the operation strategically and long-term based on FI's overarching goals and work for the whole and cooperation across operational boundaries.

We assume that you have a great interest in leadership issues and in developing in your role as a leader. We offer you leadership training to give you the conditions to succeed in your leadership.

Your education and experience

We are looking for you who have:

  • an academic degree in economics or law or equivalent education
  • experience of leadership with personnel responsibility
  • good understanding of issues concerning corporate governance, risk management, and compliance, preferably in a regulated operation
  • knowledge of regulations concerning insurance and occupational pension companies
  • very good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish and English

It is meritorious if you:

  • have experience of driving change work and/or operation development within the financial sector
  • have experience of working at a government agency, especially in the financial industry
  • have knowledge of insurance or occupational pension companies' business models

In this job, you need to:

  • plan, organize, and prioritize your work in an effective way
  • act and make decisions when needed and communicate clearly with different target groups
  • contribute to good cooperation
