On our inpatient ward, you will work closely with patients and their families in a safe, child-friendly environment where collaboration and a holistic perspective are in focus.

Your Workplace

The inpatient ward is for children and young people with severe psychiatric issues, such as severe eating disorders, suicidality, self-harm behavior, psychosis, and aggressive behavior. The ward works in close cooperation with other units within Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, as well as with the Eating Disorders Unit and Child and Adolescent Medicine. The ward has 4-5 beds and is open 24/7. We have new, fresh premises adapted for children.

To provide the best possible care, it is particularly important for us to view our patients in context. This means that the patient's relatives should be involved in the treatment process. We also base our work on the so-called "child's perspective," which means that the child or young person themselves has a voice in the treatment.

We work on a fixed rotating schedule. The schedule is developed together with the employees, and we are very proud of it. Shifts include days, evenings, and weekends.

Your Responsibilities

The work involves providing children and young people with safe and secure care and being a support for the child and their relatives. Care assistants work together with nurses, psychologists, and counselors in the psychiatric care of children and young people up to 18 years old. This includes supportive conversations, anxiety management, skills training, meal support, accompanying emergency visits during on-call hours, and handling the emergency phone.

Your Knowledge and Competencies

We are looking for you who have a nursing assistant education, care assistant education, or other education that the employer deems equivalent. Experience working in psychiatry and with children and young people, as well as eating disorder care, is required. Furthermore, you should have experience in skills training, anxiety management, meal support, parent-supporting conversations, and suicide assessments. Specialist education in child or psychiatric care is meritorious.

You plan, organize, and prioritize your tasks efficiently. You are calm, stable, and controlled, which allows you to maintain a realistic perspective on the situation and focus on the right things. You find it easy to connect and maintain relationships with both patients and colleagues.
