Opportunity to Apply for Study Loan
Are you a nursing student interested in working on the orthopedic ward when you have completed your education and graduated as a nurse? We offer you, who are starting term 6 of the nursing program and choose to start your career with us after completing your studies, the opportunity to apply for a study loan during your final term (term 6).
Grow into the Role
As a newly graduated nurse at Akademiska Sjukhuset, you will have varied tasks and a secure and educational start in your new profession. Sometimes the step between education and working life feels large, and to give you the opportunity to grow into your new role, you will become part of our Clinical Development Year (KUÅ) during your first year with us.
KUÅ is a mandatory professional introduction for you as a newly graduated nurse employed by Region Uppsala, aiming to help you sharpen your clinical skills, network with other new graduates, and have reflection time together with experienced nurses. Our Operations
70AB is a ward distributed over two floors. Orthopedic ward 70A is located on floor 8 and 70B on floor 7 at entrance 70.
On 70A, we primarily have an acute influx of patients who are cared for pre- and postoperatively for various types of fractures, i.e., injuries resulting from trauma. Some patients may have, for example, cut their hand at work, broken a bone on a ski trip, or been involved in a high-energy traffic accident. Other patients may have suffered a hip fracture or an infection requiring amputation after a fall on the same level. Thus, our patient demographic varies in age and underlying diseases. We also have doctors with specialist competence in complex pelvic fractures and difficult hand surgical procedures, which means we receive patients from large parts of the country.
A large part of our planned care comes to 70B. Here, we help patients with arthritis who need prosthetic replacement in hip, knee, or shoulder joints. The acute influx consists mainly of patients with traumatic fractures of the spine and neck, large disc herniations requiring emergency surgery, or patients with infections that require surgical intervention in addition to antibiotic treatment. We have doctors who are highly specialized in prosthetic and spinal surgery, which means we also provide national and regional care here.
Lengths of stay vary and can range from one day to several weeks. We work in teams with professions such as: nurses, assistant nurses, pharmacists, social workers, resident doctors, specialist doctors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and medical secretaries.
Here, you will gain broad knowledge about the orthopedic patient as well as pre- and postoperative care. In addition to the orthopedic condition, many of our patients also have other background diseases that may also need treatment. This means you will also gain broad medical knowledge.
Your Competence
We are looking for you who are a nursing student starting term 6. You are interested in working on an orthopedic surgical ward with medical breadth and want to start working on ward 70AB after completing your degree. We place great importance on personal suitability, such as being responsible and motivated in your work. You have a flexible and curious attitude and good teamwork skills.
We Offer
We offer you a permanent position as a nursing assistant. Upon submission of your license, the employment will be converted to a permanent position as a nurse.
You commit to working with us for 12 months after completing your degree. There is an opportunity to work as an assistant nurse or nursing assistant during your studies, but this is not a requirement. Your new position will, unless otherwise agreed, involve full-time work with duty requirements for all hours of the day, so-called rotational duty. Probationary employment may apply.
Here, you will receive benefits that make a difference, read about the benefits here (Region Uppsala Benefits (https://regionuppsala.se/jobba-hos-oss/bli-var-nya-kollega/formaner/)).
