Marine Base is now recruiting a Department Manager for employment at the Marine Workshop's operations on Muskö. About the Department
The Boat Maintenance Department is in a growth phase, and a large part of the role will involve developing existing and new capabilities to deliver preventive and emergency maintenance. The department is part of the Marine Workshops, which have operations in central and southern Sweden.
Main Responsibilities
As Department Manager, you report directly to the Head of Marine Workshops and are part of the management team. The position includes personnel responsibility and delegated tasks within occupational health and safety and electrical safety. The Department Manager is responsible for operations, budget, results, development, improvement, and ensuring that the work environment functions effectively. This also includes recruiting staff.
The role involves leading and planning work in collaboration with production managers, as well as developing operations on Muskö and establishing capabilities at additional locations. The Department Manager is responsible for ensuring that production is led, planned, and executed in a way that meets delivery and quality requirements. (Production also includes wartime unit production, e.g., participation in exercises, military training, and physical training).
Soft values and the work of being an attractive employer are highly prioritized. Key performance indicators include billing rate, delivery security, economic results, accidents/incidents, and complaints. This assignment will allow for significant freedom in organizing work, along with substantial responsibility for production and quality. The department will develop over time with more competencies and more production sites.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- Higher education in engineering, mechanical work/design, maintenance technology, maritime studies, or industrial economics, or experience assessed as equivalent by the Swedish Armed Forces
- At least 5 years of experience with maintenance systems / ERP systems
- At least 5 years of experience from manufacturing industry/workshop industry/maritime technology
- Several years of experience as Production Manager/Plant Manager in workshop, shipyard, or industrial environments, or documented experience in leadership positions considered equivalent
- Practical experience in occupational health and safety, personnel issues, and ERP systems
- Experience in project management
- Leadership training

ADVANTAGEOUS QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in maintenance management within shipping, shipping companies, and shipyards
- Experience with root cause analysis
- Experience with SAP ERP systems, certified operations, and knowledge of maritime technology and equipment
- Experience with the Swedish Armed Forces, the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration, and the PRIO business system

Employment type: Permanent. The Swedish Armed Forces apply a six-month probationary period for those not already employed by the agency.

Marine Base has its headquarters in Karlskrona but operates where needed, for example in Berga/Muskö, south of Stockholm, and in Gothenburg.
