Specialist dental care is represented throughout the Region of Västra Götaland, primarily at five specialist centers offering specialist dental care in all specialties and hospital dental care. Additionally, Folktandvården conducts extensive specialist training (ST). In collaboration with the Department of Odontology at the Sahlgrenska Academy, we are investing in the future of dental care by conducting patient-centered research and collaborating on the clinical basic education of dentists and dental hygienists.

Job Responsibilities

We are looking for you who have a strong interest in dental radiology and wish to participate in the education of future colleagues. Your main responsibilities include supervising students during radiographic examinations, responding to referrals from student patients, and conducting clinical seminars within the education of dentists and dental hygienists. In addition, opportunities are offered to observe and participate in the specialist clinic's patient and ward activities.

The position is 100% during the teaching period from August 24, 2026, to January 21, 2028, with the possibility of planning with the responsible senior dentist.

Description

The specialist dental care and educational clinics in Gothenburg, located at Odontologen, constitute Folktandvården's University Dental Care. This means that the clinic actively participates in the basic education of dentists and dental hygienists, contributes to dental research, and is part of developing dental care throughout the region.

The Specialist Clinic for Dental Radiology has approximately 30 employees and is located at Odontologen in Gothenburg. The clinic also has an imaging service point in Mölndal and Uddevalla.

We perform specialist examinations within the subject area and have equipment for intraoral examinations and extraoral examinations with panoramic, cephalostat, CBCT, and CT. Sialography examinations are performed at Sahlgrenska University Hospital where equipment is rented. Velopharynx examinations are performed in collaboration with a speech therapist at Sahlgrenska University Hospital. For MRI examinations, we have a collaboration with a clinic that performs the patient examination. The image and record system we work with is Sectra RIS and PACS with a connection to T4.

The clinic also provides continuing education for general and specialist dentists, in addition to participating in the basic education of dentists and dental hygienists.

The position is an opportunity for you who wish to gain merit for, for example, an ST position in dental radiology. You will have access to specialists in dental radiology as supervisors.

Qualifications

You must be a licensed dentist and have at least five years of experience in general dentistry. You should be confident in your role as a dentist, have an interest in working with X-rays, and, as far as possible, documented interest in teaching. If you have pedagogical experience, this is positive. Great importance will be attached to personal suitability, which for us means that you take responsibility for your task and have good cooperation skills.
