About the Unit

The 44th Mine Countermeasures Diving Division is part of the Fourth Maritime Warfare Flotilla and is located in a beautiful environment in Skredsvik, Uddevalla. Here, you are offered diverse tasks at a workplace characterized by strong unit spirit, competence, and collaboration.

The division's main task is to create freedom of movement for naval combat forces in coastal and archipelago areas, as well as around marine infrastructure. We operate both nationally and internationally, at sea and on land.

We are now enhancing the unit's medical capabilities and recruiting a specialist physician (part-time) to our Light Trauma Group (LTG), which is also responsible for diving medical tasks. You will step into an exciting and expanding phase where you will have a unique opportunity to build and shape the unit's processes and workflows from the ground up, together with the rest of the personnel.

Main Responsibilities

As a physician in the LTG, you will face complex injuries and challenging environments. Based on the patient's needs, you work independently with limited resources in the field. The work is largely prehospital and is carried out under pressurized and physically demanding conditions.

The role includes, among other things:

  • Providing emergency care: Performing prehospital triage, resuscitation, and damage-limiting measures, as well as stabilizing patients for transport to a higher level of care.
  • Responsibility for diving medicine: Performing diving medical care and working proactively on patient safety regarding diving operations.
  • Tactical operations: Participating in combat training to protect yourself, your group, and your patients. You also participate practically in the establishment and grouping of the unit.
  • Training and development: Acting as both instructor and student during exercises, providing daily healthcare, and being responsible for the care of medical equipment.
  • International service: Participating in international military exercises and deployments abroad (parts of your working time may be allocated there).

Qualifications

  • Licensed physician with a specialist degree in emergency medicine or anesthesia and intensive care.
  • Current and well-maintained knowledge of airway management and extensive experience in trauma care.
  • Good ability to express yourself well in speech and writing, in both Swedish and English.
  • Full health and meeting the Swedish Armed Forces' physical requirements (FMFysS).
  • Category B driver's license.

Merits:

  • Completed basic military training (Conscription, Basic Military Training for Officers, or Basic Soldier Training).
  • Trained diving physician with current practical experience in hyperbaric medicine for divers.
  • Previous service in a Light Trauma Group (LTG).
  • Previous experience with military overseas service.

Personal Attributes

To succeed and thrive in this role, a very good ability to adapt is required. You can quickly adjust to new situations, unknown environments, and varying work teams. You have the ability to maintain your calm and ability to act even under high stress and danger.

You have good self-awareness regarding your strengths and areas for development and take the initiative to continuously develop in your professional role. Since our work is based on trust and teamwork, your ability to collaborate is crucial; you share knowledge, experience, and information without ego, and you support your colleagues so that you can achieve common goals together.

In this recruitment process, great importance will be placed on personal suitability.
