Your new workplace

Sundsvall City Library is part of the Library, Culture and Museums Department within the Culture and Leisure Administration of Sundsvall Municipality. The operations consist of a main library in the Kulturmagasinet, seven local libraries, and a mobile library.

The library's mission is to offer free and equal access to information, literature, and culture for all municipal residents. Through reading promotion work, digital services, and accessible meeting places and literature, the library contributes to education, participation, and a democratic society. The operations consist of three units: Media and Web, Mobile and Digital, and Reading Promotion, with a total of approximately 55 employees.

The Reading Promotion unit has primary responsibility for reading and language promotion work at both the main library and local libraries, where it has primary responsibility for five of the local libraries. The unit works actively in the municipality's priority areas and in close collaboration with both internal and external actors. Within the unit, there are approximately 14 dedicated employees who together develop and carry out the library's reading promotion activities.

We are now looking for a Unit Manager with a genuine interest in library development from a reading promotion perspective for the Reading Promotion unit.

How you contribute in the role of Unit Manager

As a Unit Manager, you lead and distribute the work on the unit and are responsible for personnel, budget, and work environment.

Main responsibilities:

• Lead and coordinate the unit's daily work and create conditions for participation and engagement in the work group.
• Lead and develop the unit's operations based on the library plan and other governing documents in close cooperation with the library's other unit managers.
• Be responsible for personnel matters such as employee interviews, salary negotiations, scheduling, recruitment, and rehabilitation cases.
• Be responsible for monitoring the unit's operations and working with analysis and goal management in digital tools.
• Lead the unit's systematic work environment work.
• Participate in the department's budget work and be responsible for and monitor the unit's budget, as well as handle invoices and other economic matters related to the unit's operations and employees.
• Conduct procurements and draw up contracts.
• Participate in the Library, Culture and Museums Department's management group and other management and steering contexts relevant to the unit.
• Collaborate with other operations, both internally and externally.

Your qualifications and experience

We are looking for you who have an academic degree in Library and Information Science or another academic education that the employer considers equivalent. You have experience of personnel responsibility, for example as a manager or supervisor. It is meritorious if you have leadership training as well as experience of similar tasks within the area of operations.

You also have:

• Good Swedish skills in both speech and writing.
• Good knowledge regarding digital competence and experience using various IT tools, systems, and platforms.
• A valid B driver's license.

As a person, you are confident in yourself and take responsibility for your work. You have good cooperation skills and enjoy working together with others to achieve common goals. As a person, you are structured and have an easy time planning, prioritizing, and creating order in your tasks. You are service-oriented and value a professional and positive approach in contact with both colleagues and customers. Furthermore, you are flexible and can adapt to changed needs and conditions. We also see that you are development-oriented and motivated by contributing to improvements, new ideas, and the continued development of the operations.
