Our Operations
Surgical Ward 70C is one of four wards within the Department of Surgery and Urology. Here, we provide highly specialized surgical care focusing on transplant surgery, liver/pancreas surgery, and esophagus/stomach surgery. Most of our operations are planned, but we also provide a certain amount of acute and sub-acute care with direct admissions to the ward from our partner regions.
The ward also includes the transplant clinic, where our patients come for investigations and follow-up visits before and after transplantation. The clinic is partly staffed by personnel from the ward. The ward has 24 beds staffed by a large and dedicated team of nurses, assistant nurses, doctors, pharmacists, and other vital healthcare professionals who work together in teams around the patients. We also have nurses with specialist functions, such as specialist nurses and section-in-charge nurses, who work to drive and develop care for our patients. We work with the "Fundamentals of Care" framework as our value base and with a clear person-centered approach where the patient is at the center.
We actively work on the development and training of our staff and are committed to ensuring that you, as a new employee, receive a good introduction and training to have the best possible conditions for your work, whether you are new to the role or experienced.
Here, you will find a developing and enjoyable job where you become part of a dedicated and professional team with a welcoming and supportive work climate. We have good experience, knowledge, and routine in welcoming new nurses, which means you will get a secure and good start to your career with us, regardless of your previous level of experience.
Your Role
We offer you, as a nurse, a developing and varied job where you will gain broad knowledge in surgical nursing. Over time, you will have the opportunity to deepen your expertise within our medical sections and further develop through internal and external training and opportunities for other tasks. We offer the possibility of paid specialist training in surgery as well as rotation positions in the clinic, research, and special assignments.
Your duties include caring for postoperative patients, which involves both practical tasks such as administering medication, infusions, and injections, and handling pain pumps, as well as more administrative tasks such as patient education and identifying care needs and risk areas. Together with our assistant nurses, you plan and lead the work with the patient in focus.
We offer a permanent full-time position with start date according to agreement. Working hours are scheduled for day, evening, weekend, and night. Night work is relevant only after you have settled into the ward work and after consultation with the manager. We work with healthy scheduling, and you will have the opportunity to influence your schedule. We have scheduled training days four times a year as well as weekly lectures for continuous competence development.
As a newly graduated nurse, you will participate in the Clinical Development Year (KUÅ) during your first year as a nurse, corresponding to approx. 20% of your working hours. We also offer you guidance and mentoring from our experienced nurses and specialist nurses during your first period of employment.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse. Both you who are newly graduated and you who have longer experience. Previous experience in surgery or emergency care is meritorious but not a requirement. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
Your Competencies
- You are proactive and enjoy varied tasks
- You enjoy learning new tasks and working methods
- You are empathetic, cooperative, and enjoy working in a team
- You are responsible and have the ability to adapt to different situations
