Attending Physician in Oncological Endocrinology – Uppsala University Hospital
We are Uppsala University Hospital – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a county hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer healthcare to two million people in Central Sweden. Something is always happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother undergoes surgery, a colleague is hailed as a hero. Here, you will experience both tough challenges and fantastic events, within a strong community of colleagues. We welcome your application!
Our Operations
The Section of Oncological Endocrinology is part of the Business Area Blood and Tumor Diseases (BoT). The BoT business area has approximately 300 employees. The Section of Oncological Endocrinology has about 50 employees and provides outpatient and inpatient care for patients with neuroendocrine tumors.
The section investigates, treats, and monitors patients with all types of neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) regardless of origin. We also manage other endocrine tumors such as adrenal cortical cancer and pheochromocytoma, as well as hereditary tumor syndromes such as MEN 1, 2, VHL, and SDH. We naturally see patients from the Uppsala region, but the majority of patients come from other regions and university hospitals, as well as from abroad. Care is provided in multidisciplinary teams in close collaboration with units for pathology, endocrine surgery, clinical chemistry, radiology, nuclear medicine, cardiology, thoracic surgery, and others.
Research activity is high. The unit is, as the only center in Sweden, certified as a Center of Excellence (CoE) within the European organization ENETS for both GEP NET and Lung NET, within Uppsala University Hospital, as well as an ERN center for NET. We are a CoE within ENSAT (adrenal organization). Since April 1, 2023, we have been a unit for National Highly Specialized Care for neuroendocrine abdominal tumors and advanced adrenal tumors.
Your Role
As an Attending Physician in Oncological Endocrinology, you have an interest in research within your field, as well as broad knowledge and interest in developing investigations and treatments for NETs.
Your Qualifications
- You have 5 years of specialist competence in Endocrinology.
- Broad experience with NETs in both outpatient and inpatient care.
- You are research-active within the field and have a PhD in the area.
- Great importance is attached to personal qualities and teamwork skills.
