The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (BUP) Stockholm section for Acute and Inpatient Care is Sweden's largest inpatient care facility within child and adolescent psychiatry. The section consists of an emergency unit, three inpatient care units, and an administrative unit.

We admit children and young people with serious psychiatric issues such as deep depression, self-harm behavior, severe eating disorders, and psychotic and bipolar conditions. The emergency unit, two of the care units, and the administrative unit are beautifully located in the old Sachska area on Södermalm. The third care unit is located very centrally at the S:t Göran hospital area. In total, there are 33 care beds available within the section.

Job Description

The role of Specialist Physician in BUP Stockholm's inpatient care involves assessing and treating children and young people who have more extensive needs and more severe symptoms than can be managed in outpatient care. You will conduct assessments, diagnostics, care planning, and pharmacological treatment. You have overall responsibility for treatment and work together with other staff. You will have close collegial exchange with other physicians in the Acute and Inpatient Care section. As a specialist physician in BUP Stockholm, you will alternatively be part of the forward on-call line or, as needed and after completing the introduction, in the back on-call line.

Qualifications

You who apply must be a specialist in child and adolescent psychiatry or psychiatry. You should have experience working according to modern, evidence-based methods. It is meritorious if you have work experience as a physician within child and adolescent psychiatry.

You are stable, independent, and flexible as a person, with good judgment, good teamwork skills, and the ability to lead the medical work. We place great emphasis on personal suitability and interest in the patient group.

BUP Acute and Inpatient Care is part of BUP Stockholm. BUP Stockholm offers specialized psychiatric care for children and young people aged 0 to 17 in Stockholm County. We are part of the Stockholm County Healthcare Services (SLSO), which is a healthcare provider within Region Stockholm. Together, we are approximately 1,200 employees who each year meet over 22,000 children, young people, and their families.

The position is filled subject to the condition that it does not need to be taken for internal reassignment, according to current regulations.

For patient-facing work within Stockholm County Healthcare Services (SLSO):

• A register check is applied before the decision on employment according to SLSO's overarching guidelines for register checks upon employment.
• Employees who will have patient contact must undergo a new hire examination, according to current directives, which is conducted through occupational health services before employment.
• Requires, in addition to Swedish professional licensure, good knowledge of the Swedish language corresponding to level C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The same requirements are guiding for non-licensed staff with patient contact.
