Ydre Municipality is now seeking an engaged environmental and nature conservation case manager. The position is a full-time employment with a unique and exciting two-part profile: half of your working time is dedicated to the regionally important task as measures coordinator for the Svartån-Sommen Water Council, while the remaining time is devoted to Ydre Municipality's own environmental projects, nature conservation, and management of contaminated areas.

About the position

In this role, you have a broad and coordinating responsibility. The work requires close cooperation with the environmental administrations in other affected municipalities as well as other actors. Since the position involves regular physical presence with different parties throughout the entire catchment area, there is an opportunity to base yourself from office spaces in Boxholms and Mjölby municipalities as well to facilitate your daily life.

Your main areas of responsibility will be:

• Measures coordination for Svartån-Sommen Water Council: You have a coordinating responsibility for water protection work in the entire catchment area. You plan and initiate environmental measures based on the local water protection program. The work is carried out in close collaboration with member organizations, authorities, and landowners. Contact with landowners and dialogue meetings in the field (for example, at Skenaån) are a central part of the assignment.
• Contaminated areas: You coordinate the municipality's efforts in investigation and remediation. This includes strategic planning, grant applications, and dialogue with contractors and supervisory authorities.
• Nature conservation and planning: You coordinate the municipality's own nature conservation efforts based on Ydre Municipality's new nature conservation program.
• Naturum Sommen: As needed, you participate in the operations through practical work and guiding to spread knowledge about the catchment area's unique nature values and environmental challenges.

Your profile

We are looking for you who have an interdisciplinary academic degree in environmental science, applied ecology, physical geography, or other education focused on nature and landscape management. Since the position involves regular travel in the field and within the catchment area, a B-driving license is required. It is meritorious if you have previous experience of project management or case handling within nature conservation, water management, or forestry. We also see it as a plus if you have worked with contaminated areas, such as investigations and remediation, and if you have good knowledge of GIS.

To succeed in the role, you must be proactive and self-reliant, take responsibility for your tasks, structure your own approach, and drive processes forward in networks. The position involves many contact surfaces, which requires that you are relationship-building, have an easy time making new contacts, and enjoy maintaining professional relationships. Through your pedagogical insight and clear oral communication, you have a natural ability to explain environmental challenges in an engaging way, whether you are having a dialogue with a landowner at Skenaån or guiding visitors at Naturum Sommen. Finally, you are structured in your working method, which allows you to plan and prioritize effectively within given timeframes, while your problem-solving analytical ability helps you handle and break down complex environmental issues into concrete solutions.
