Our employees are our strength, contributing to knowledge exchange nationally and internationally. With digital tools and new working methods, we can simplify daily life at the hospital and offer modern, accessible, and efficient care of the highest quality.

About Us

Surgery Sahlgrenska comprises three inpatient wards and an outpatient unit with an associated day-care unit. The operations are divided into four sections with the following profile areas: acute and trauma surgery, endocrine and sarcoma surgery, breast and melanoma surgery, and upper gastrointestinal surgery. The Section for Breast and Melanoma Surgery provides both county-level care and national highly specialized care, focusing on surgical development in a research-intensive environment. The operations are governed by Sahlgrenska University Hospital's shared vision and goals, meaning the department provides healthcare, research, development, and education of the highest quality. Respect for patients and relatives, employees, and students, participation, responsibility, and equality should characterize the operations.

What do we offer?

We offer you the opportunity for surgical and academic development in the care of patients with melanoma and breast cancer at Sweden's largest unit for these diseases. An active multidisciplinary approach provides a stimulating learning environment where, as a surgeon, you are part of the cancer patient's entire treatment chain. The surgery offers breadth and volume but also the opportunity to develop specialist competence within the framework of highly specialized care with advanced metastasis surgery and isolated limb perfusion (ILP). The area is research-intensive with significant development opportunities.

Job Description

The work involves the care of patients with breast cancer and malignant melanoma. Reception activities and day-surgery operations constitute the majority of the work, based on a well-functioning multidisciplinary collaboration. The work is scheduled during daytime hours. Depending on individual competence and experience, participation in general surgical on-call duties is included. The job description also includes teaching and continuous development work. The research intensity is high at the section and forms a natural part of the operations. The work is largely conducted in a multidisciplinary context with multiprofessional patient care.
