NU Healthcare is part of the Region of Västra Götaland and is one of Sweden's larger county hospitals. We are located at NÄL (Norra Älvsborg County Hospital) in Trollhättan and Uddevalla Hospital. The hospital's catchment area covers 280,000 inhabitants. Together, we are approximately 5,000 employees who work every day to provide good and safe specialist healthcare. We are located on the west coast, and our area offers varied nature with both sea, mountains, forests, and lakes.

About Us

The Eye Clinic is one of the largest in the country with a catchment area of approximately 330,000 inhabitants and is located at Uddevalla Hospital. We perform over 40,000 patient visits annually, of which over 30,000 are doctor visits. Every year, approximately 3,200 cataract surgeries, 6,500 injection treatments, and 1,000 laser treatments are performed. In addition, we perform various types of glaucoma surgeries, squint surgeries, and surgeries for malformations and tumors in the eye region.

Today, we have approximately 85 employees at the clinic, including 29 doctors. Our goal is for all employees to feel valued and involved in the clinic's development. The clinic has a large educational mission, and we place great emphasis on high quality and opportunities for continuous competence development. All doctors are provided with their own workspace, work computer, and work mobile phone.

Our operations are divided into five process areas

• Emergency/General
• Children/Orthoptics
• Glaucoma
• Surgery
• Retina

Each process area is led by a process team consisting of a doctor, a nurse/orthoptist, an assistant nurse, and a secretary. All employees belong to one of the processes. We work in newly built and well-adapted reception premises. Our eye clinic is very well equipped with four own operating rooms, an operating room for minor procedures, an injection room, six OCTs, a Pentacam, a multi-spot laser, Navilas, a micro-pulse laser, two SLT/YAG units, a RetCam, as well as the latest generation of phaco machines. The clinic prioritizes development work and new methods and is far ahead in regional and national comparisons.

About the Position

As a specialist doctor with us, you will be part of one of our process areas, depending on your competence and preferences. It is an advantage if you have broad competence, as you will participate in evening and weekend on-call duties. You will also work across process boundaries, and it is common to have more than one focus area. A position with us therefore involves both depth and breadth, which many experience as a good combination. The position also includes supervision and teaching of resident doctors (ST-läkare) and candidates.

Qualifications

• Specialist Doctor in Ophthalmology
• Area of interest/special competence is meritorious. We also highly value broad knowledge and experience, as well as teamwork skills and an interest in developing operations.
