Lifeguard/Swimming Instructor at Vetlanda Municipality – 1 Position

Do you enjoy working with people and contributing to a safe and active environment? Do you thrive on teaching swimming and leading group training that creates safety, joy of movement, and motivation – both in and out of the water? We are now looking for a Lifeguard/Swimming Instructor for the Bad & Gym facility in Myresjö. Here you will meet everyone from children who are just getting acquainted with water to older adults taking their daily exercise laps.

Vetlanda Municipality has two swimming and bathing facilities. Both facilities feature a café and well-equipped gyms with modern machines. The Myresjö swimming hall offers a 25-meter pool, a teaching pool, and a splash pool for the youngest visitors. The Vetlanda swimming center features a 16-meter pool, a rehabilitation pool with a height-adjustable bottom, and a relaxation area with a bubble pool and various types of saunas. We operate swimming schools for preschools, schools, and the general public, as well as individual and group training at these facilities.

As a Lifeguard/Swimming Instructor with us, you are involved in the entire operation.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Swimming instruction
• Lifeguarding
• Leading group fitness sessions
• Staffing the reception with cash register duties
• Facility maintenance/cleaning

Swimming instruction is a key part of the job. At our facility, you will work with both school swimming lessons and swimming instruction for the general public of various ages.

You will gain a holistic perspective and work with all aspects of our operations. You will become part of a team of 13 colleagues who together drive and develop our facilities.

We are looking for someone who is service-oriented, engaged, and enjoys motivating others. You have a good attitude towards people and feel confident in interactions with diverse individuals.

Job Details and Terms

This is a fixed-term position (100%) from August 31, 2026, to June 6, 2027, or as agreed. The position is contingent upon approved study leave. A decision is expected in mid-July.

Qualifications

• You have a lifeguard certification or other education deemed equivalent.
• You are a competent swimmer and can swim at least 200 meters, including 50 meters on your back. A rescue test is included.
• Valid B-driver's license.
• Training and licenses in swimming school operations, water, and land training are meritorious.
• Experience in pedagogy and swimming hall operations is meritorious.
• We place great emphasis on personal qualities.

Employment Type: Fixed-term employment.
Duration: 6 months or longer.
Working Hours: Daytime, evening, weekends.
