Your new job

As a part-time firefighter, you contribute to creating safety in society.

You are dispatched to various emergency situations such as fires, traffic accidents, drownings, and other acute situations where life may be in danger. You receive alerts via a pager that you carry with you during your standby periods. During parts of your standby time, various exercises are conducted according to a prepared schedule, along with equipment maintenance and paid physical training.

The employment involves having a fixed schedule with 24/7 standby every fourth week, and it assumes that you have the possibility to leave your regular job when an alert is received.

You have a desire to help other people, and we place great emphasis on your personal qualities.

We are looking for you

• You have a upper secondary education or equivalent.
• No prior knowledge of firefighting or healthcare is required.
• For the position, it is required that you understand and speak Swedish.
• Driver's license category B minimum. Presentation of driver's license category C no later than 18 months from the date of employment. We provide financial support for obtaining this license.
• Live and work near the fire station or have the possibility of remote work so that you can reach the fire station within the time specified by the municipality during your standby period.
• Approval certificate from your regular employer allowing you to leave the workplace for alerts, training, and exercises. The certificate must be available upon request.

The Rescue Service in Jönköping is a department with approximately 250 employees. Our mission is to contribute to a safe and secure society from a broad perspective, with high demands on meeting society's expectations. The Rescue Service is responsible for fire safety issues, operational interventions, coordinates the municipality's crime prevention work, crisis preparedness, and protection against accidents. Collaboration occurs to a large extent with other authorities and municipalities in the county.

Good to know

You must be in full health, have good physical fitness, be able to swim, and be willing to undergo tests with a passing result according to our test program.

We apply mandatory alcohol and drug tests upon hiring operational fire personnel according to a secured process carried out by Jönköping Municipality's Public Health Services.

Start date by agreement. Selection of applications may take place continuously during the application period.
