About the role

AFRY is in an exciting phase and is now seeking to strengthen its design team in Västerås. The group works with electrical design within the railway sector and is part of AFRY's broad commitment to sustainable and future-proof infrastructure solutions. Here, there are currently engaged and driven employees with a strong desire to develop, and to support this continued commitment, they are now seeking additional competence for the business.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work together with other colleagues to further develop the design operations and contribute to the next step in the group's journey. The role involves technical responsibility in projects where you drive and lead the design work forward. You work both operationally with electrical design and engineering, and act as a support to colleagues in technical matters, methodology, and quality assurance. We are looking for someone who enjoys developing both working methods and people, and who wants to take a leading role in several assignments.

To succeed in the role of Lead Electrical Designer, AFRY would like you to have good experience within electrical design and a strong technical understanding of electrical systems, circuit diagrams, and drawing standards. You are proficient in working in CAD environments to produce technical drawings and keep up to date with current technical requirements and safety standards within the industry.

Key responsibilities

• Engineering and dimensioning of railway power systems
• Production of technical drawings, diagrams, and documentation in a CAD environment
• Participation in design meetings and dialogue with customers, contractors, and other disciplines
• Ensuring that solutions comply with current regulations, standards, and safety requirements
• Supporting colleagues and driving technical decisions forward

We are looking for someone who

• Has a university degree in a relevant field such as power engineering or electrical engineering. Alternatively, possesses long professional experience deemed equivalent.
• Has very good experience in electrical design and the structure of power systems
• Is well-versed in using CAD programs for technical drawings
• Can express themselves fluently in Swedish, both orally and in writing

It is an advantage if you have

• Experience with power supply within the railway sector
