In an exciting collaboration with Svensk Kärnbränslehantering (SKB), Skanska has been commissioned to expand the existing final repository for short-lived radioactive waste (SFR) in Forsmark. The project involves expanding the storage facility and is expected to be completed by 2030.

Safety-conscious mechanic for tunnel project

As a tunnel mechanic, you will work with the repair and maintenance of our tunnel machines and ancillary equipment underground. The tunnel machines consist of jumbo drills, grouting equipment, and shotcrete robots. The work may also involve loaders, trucks, dumpers, excavators, and cherry pickers. Above ground, there are also lighter vehicles, wheel loaders, and our workshop.

Our mechanics work together with the rock workers in a 6/8 shift rotation. We are now expanding our team and are looking for two additional tunnel mechanics for the shift crew and one day mechanic for above-ground work.

For the day mechanic role, there is also an opportunity for training on the operation of the tunnel machines.

Requirements for the Tunnel Mechanic role:

• At least 2 years of experience working with tunnel machines

Requirements for the Day Mechanic role:

• Education in vehicles or mechanics
• Interest in construction machinery

Requirements for both roles:

• Category B driver's license and good knowledge of Swedish
• Merits include Category C driver's license, forklift license, and crane license
