Registered Physician for Orthopedics and Hand Surgery
We are Akademiska sjukhuset – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a county hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer healthcare to two million people in Central Sweden. Something is always happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother undergoes surgery, a colleague is hailed as a hero. Here, you will experience both tough challenges and fantastic events, within a strong community of colleagues. We welcome your application!
Our Operations
The Department of Orthopedics and Hand Surgery has competence across the entire spectrum of the field and treats both children and adults. We provide care for both acute and elective orthopedic conditions with emergency intake around the clock. The department has an academic profile with education for medical students and doctors at all stages of their careers, basic training for other professions, and specialist training for nurses. We conduct research with national and international partners and engage in quality and patient safety work focused on proactive operational development.
Your Role
You will be part of the orthopedic clinic's medical team, which involves participating in the management of patients throughout the entire acute and elective flow of orthopedic injuries and diseases. The work includes duties at the emergency department, inpatient wards, orthopedic outpatient clinic, and in the operating room. During on-call shifts, you will manage orthopedic injuries at the emergency department independently, but with support and supervision from specialist physicians around the clock. The role involves close collaboration with other specialties such as internal medicine, surgery, and infectious diseases. The role also includes supervising AT (general practice) doctors and medical students.
You will join a cheerful and professional community with high competence. You will quickly acquire a broad knowledge base in many orthopedic issues.
Your Qualifications and Competence
We are looking for you who are a registered physician with strong personal drive and a great interest in orthopedics and emergency care. The work requires you to be responsible, with good collaboration and communication skills. The role also presupposes that you have pedagogical skills and an interest in operational development. We place great emphasis on personal qualities such as initiative, flexibility, and teamwork.
What We Offer
We offer a fixed-term position for 11 months with continuous supervision and opportunities for education in line with Step 1 of the guidelines for orthopedic specialist training. Start date by agreement.
Here you will receive benefits that make a difference; read about the benefits here (Region Uppsala Benefits (https://regionuppsala.se/formaner/)).
